Stories by Manly Wade Wellman, a writer whose work I don’t know nearly well enough."
Lucky you. I read the Silver John short stories a few years back and enjoyed them quite a bit.
Who Fears The Devil? was a very good collection of short stories. I also have the Baen, John the Balladeer which includes a few later stories as well. Again, good reading.
I am re-reading 'Salem's Lot by Stephen King. Part vampire plague story and part haunted house story, it's always been one of my favorites. I also re-watched both miniseries over the past couple of weeks,s o I may have a problem...

You don't know how lucky, Randy--I got the book (a very nice oversize illustrated paperback) free from the publisher. (I'd done him a little favor.) My only real knowledge of Wellman, other than a small handful of stories, comes from the Twilight Zone and Night Gallery adaptations of two of his works--your enthusiasm makes me even more eager to dig into this!
With the Silver John stories, I found a gentle sort of personality coming up against supernatural threats. In a way they were more rural fantasy leaning toward horror than full-on horror. But he wrote a lot and I believe across a spectrum of fantastic fiction, so I can't really say what you'll find in that collections.I hope you enjoy them.
Just started The Hunting Party, judging from all the reading updates all the characters are awful lol!
The Hunting Party
by Lucy Foley
Everyone's invited...everyone's a suspect...
For fans of Ruth Ware and Tana French, a shivery, atmospheric, page-turning novel of psychological suspense in the tradition of Agatha Christie, in which a group of old college friends are snowed in at a hunting lodge . . . and murder and mayhem ensue.
All of them are friends. One of them is a killer.

That book truly has funny moments and truly creep ones as well.
Dabbling in historical crime for a bit with The King's Spy. Slow start though! I always find myself impatient for murder and mayhem in crime novels XD
I read so much last week that I took a weekend off ( ok so I played Sims 4 for like 30 hours, sorry) from everything and now I have no idea what to read, usually that's my favorite part.
Sounds familiar. My reading frenzy was interrupted by a curious new interest in playing old Resident Evil games.
Now starting:
The previous three Bryan Smith books I've read all had something with "kill" or "killing" in their title. An emerging pattern? Usually I say to myself "Just one more Bryan Smith novel, than I'll stop." It doesn't work...

I've just finished reading The Haunting of Hill House for the first time, I haven't seen any of the films so it was all fresh and new for me. That opening and ending paragraph...I've now just started reading *gulp* The Divine Comedy by Dante. I have the stunning Barnes & Noble gold-leafed, leather-bound edition full of all the gruesome illustrations.

Naomi, that book is in my top ten of all time. I think it has the best opening in all of literature.
I've started two: REEK

Sorry I just saw this, big hugs!"
Are you enjoying it, Kasia?"
It's incredible, both feels familiar and like something that I've never read before. So well written.
