Burntown by Jennifer McMahon
Only 30 pages in, but already, wow, just wow!

Christopher Conlon (goodreadscomchristopherconlon) | 530 comments Just starting the decidedly non-horror Rich Man, Poor Man, but I’m planning to take breaks from that lengthy tome with Cemetery Dance Select: Simon Clark, part of CD’s series of short e-book “sampler plates” of various horror writers’ best short stories—as selected by the writers themselves.

Oooh, I have a couple of those, but Simon Clark wasn't one of them.

I'm rereading Peter Straub's Shadowland. I love me a good magician story.

The Clark collection is great so far--recommended. That CD Select e-book series has another great title I'd recommend as well, but modesty prevents me from naming its author.

Ghoster by Jason Arnopp
I wasn't sure about this one at first, but the narrative just flies by, and it doesn't take long to get sucked into the story.

Spyros Egkarchos (spyrex) | 97 comments Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman. I'm 50 pages into it and I had already many bursts of laugh. Gaiman has a nice sense of humor which I hadn't seen in Stardust for example.

Résumé with Monsters by William Browning Spencer

This might be some splendid paranoid fiction.

Ksinolaxano Face (ilivedinavalon) A Storm of Swords: Blood and Gold by George R. R. Martin and H. P. Lovecraft's Tales of Terror by H. P. Lovecraft, both extraordinary.

Monica Go | 894 comments I started a re read of Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children. So far, so good, better than I remember.

message 119: by Abhishek (new)

Abhishek (statisticsagainstthedarkarts) Reading 'The Turn of the Key' which is supposed to be a Haunted Smart House story. It's okay so far and Ruth Ware does a good job of building an anxious albeit human protagonist. I'm a third of the way in and I think spooky stuff is about to go down.

message 131: by Char (new)

Char | 17457 comments I enjoyed Dracul by Dacre Stoker as well!

I'm starting The Boatman's Daughter by Andy Davidson by Andy Davidson. I'm super excited because I loved his book In the Valley of the Sun by Andy Davidson , which I read last year. It was a phenomenal piece of work and I'm hoping this one is too.

I'm also still reading The Immeasurable Corpse of Nature by Christopher Slatsky by Christopher Slatsky. This collection is beyond good and today is its release day. I'm looking forward to finishing this by the end of the week, hopefully.

I have read some of her other series but not that one. She is a good writer so hopefully you like it.

Unfortunately, I ended up dropping it. It was trying to be edgy, but in a really juvenile way. It's written for teenagers so I'm not surprised. Just not my cup of tea, I guess.

Atlanta (dark_leo) | 271 comments I finished patient zero, and started wayward, the 2nd book in the wayward pines series.

I have darkly dreaming dexter on my shelf waiting to be read.

I also got the 2nd Pendergast with an audible credit this month, they were having a promotion if you used 2 credit get a $5 coupon so that was one of my selections.
