Gladwell explores the premise that stranger encounters can lead to bad results because individuals are acting out of their own assumptions, prejudices and learned behavior rather than setting those aside to understand what is true about the other person’s situation. Using examples from police shootings to historical situations, Gladwell makes an interesting case. The audio was ably read by the author, and enhanced by sampling from a song by Monelle Janae with lyrics relevant to the content.
The re-read continues. Lucas and company are on the hunt for a kidnapper who abducted a psychotherapist and her two daughters. This one had more than its share of tension as the story flips between the investigation and the developments with the kidnapper and his victims.
A young boy with telekinetic powers is kidnapped and placed in a facility where some strange experiments are going on. Pretty good suspenseful tale
The Minneapolis PD has been tracking a bank robbing team-- and when they catch them in play and kill the two lead robbers, the husband of one vows to make the cops pay by hunting those closest to them. When Lucas figures this out it’s a race against time to prevent any more losses including those closest to him.
A teenage drug overdoes in Paradise exposes an ugly, deadly drug ring that preys on high school students as users and sellers. Solid story.
