I'm not too amazed by this book so far though, I feel like some parts are simply just dragging on, and the pacing is a bit slow for me... :/ (hide spoiler)]

chapter 6 15.4% So far it isn't bad I've heard such mixed reviews (view spoiler)[ I really dislike Nolla and her better than thou attitude. No real opinion on Lia yet, other than disliking killing I don't know enough about her.
Grey in his new life as a stable hand is alright. I like that he befriended Tycho, his fellow worker. I still wish he had just returned to the castle and they could've figured things out but ya know that wouldn't make for as much of a story. (hide spoiler)]

40.8% chapter 21 (view spoiler)[ So they really have made Rhen into a total monster. That is disappointing although not surprising. Seems like Grey came into some of his magic and that it was brought on by the rage of seeing Tycho get whipped.

(view spoiler)[ So Lilith was alive all this time? I kind of forgot about the existence of Lilith so for me it wasn't much of a surprise. I think it's cool that Lia Mara finally got the courage to kill her mother, and I think becoming the queen fits her well.

I'm not too sure about how to feel about Rhen, he's definitely changed a lot but then again Lilith was behind everything. I also wonder why Lilith didn't tell Rhen that Grey was the heir, if she wanted to use him regardless...

Overall, I didn't hate the book, but it was still somewhat bland and predictable, so it's around a 3.5 for me.

50% chapter 25 (view spoiler)[ Glad the Scraver made another appearance I think its a neat creature. Looking forward to learning more about it and where it lives as well as magic. Nice that Grey can finally feel his magic.
Now to make the trip to Syhl Shallow and see how it goes from there. I dont trust Lia's mother at all nor do I really want anything to do with her sister but maybe something will change. (hide spoiler)]

I'm done now and I didn't hate it but didnt love it. That ending though (view spoiler)[ I hated that ending so much. Not a fan of the bringing back the bad guy at the best of times and this one was terrible to me. So much of this book felt like it negated all the growth of the first one. (hide spoiler)]

I can't stand what the author did to Rhen. After he tried so hard to not be a villain in the first book and now he is exactly that in this one its just disappointing to me. (hide spoiler)]
