Joan Barnett | 1972 comments 1. What book is on your nightstand now? Ah I have a ton on my nightstand but I'll go with the one I'm reading now which is Never Let Me Go

2. What was the last truly great book that you read? I'm going to say Verity since I couldn't put it down

3. If you could meet any writer – dead or alive – who would it be, and what would you want to know? Hmmm I don't know - I'm guessing Stephen King which is funny because I've only read a couple of his books but I just wonder how his mind works after reading some of his books plus seeing a bunch of his movies.

4. Are there any books that you own that are different from what you normally read or are outside of your comfort zone? Why did you buy it? The Alchemist - I kept seeing it everywhere and thought I should read it.

5. How do you organize your personal library? So I've been thinking I need to actually organize what I have but basically I have three bookshelves and the older ones have the older books on them - mostly - unless I read one of the authors that were on those books. I arrange them by author and somewhat by genre and/or favorites.

6. What book have you always meant to read and haven’t gotten around to yet? Anna Karenina

7. Do you remember the last book you put down without finishing? Actually technically I think it's the one I'm reading now but the one before that was probably A Little Life

8. What kinds of stories are you drawn to? Suspense, love, YA and books everyone is talking about

9. If you could require world leaders to read one book, what would it be? The Handmaid's Tale - I guess but maybe something on the Holocaust

10. What do you plan to read next? Either Iron Gold or something for the 2020 challenge - not sure - part of my problem is deciding what to read next

- Iron Gold and The Refrigerator Monologues

2. What was the last truly great book that you read?
- A Christmas Carol

3. If you could meet any writer – dead or alive – who would it be, and what would you want to know?
- I'm not one who is interested in authors much, just what the write

4. Are there any books that you own that are different from what you normally read or are outside of your comfort zone? Why did you buy it?
- I can't think of any. I read a bit of most everything

5. How do you organize your personal library?
- By genre and then my author (series in order, of course!)

6. What book have you always meant to read and haven’t gotten around to yet?
- The Lord of the Rings, I have convinced myself that I won't like it as much as I liked the movies, which makes no sense at all since the book is ALWAYS better than the movie.

7. Do you remember the last book you put down without finishing?
- Becoming, I'm going to finish it, I just haven't been in the mood for it any of the times I have picked it up

8. What kinds of stories are you drawn to?

- I have no idea

- Doctor Who: A Brief History of Time Lords is what I am currently reading. I'm not sure what I will pick up after that.

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3266 comments 1. What book is on your nightstand now?
Behind Closed Doors, which I'm currently reading.

2. What was the last truly great book that you read?
Confessions

3. If you could meet any writer – dead or alive – who would it be, and what would you want to know?
Jodi Picoult, and I'd ask how she manages to tackle such controversial topics in such a balanced way, without letting her own views interfere.

4. Are there any books that you own that are different from what you normally read or are outside of your comfort zone? Why did you buy it?
I can't think of anything specific that is so outside my comfort zone, but there are definitely some books that I bought on a whim from Book Outlet because I saw them, they weren't too expensive, and they looked very interesting.

5. How do you organize your personal library?
Currently in stacks on my floor, but I should be getting new shelves soon!

6. What book have you always meant to read and haven’t gotten around to yet?
So many! The Three Musketeers is one that comes to mind, although I haven't really been in the mood for classics for a long time.

7. Do you remember the last book you put down without finishing?
I've only ever DNF'd one book: What If . . . Everyone Knew Your Name. It was an awfully formatted choose-your-own-adventure book.

8. What kinds of stories are you drawn to?
I love anything character-driven. I really like thrillers, YA, and fantasy.

9. If you could require world leaders to read one book, what would it be?
I never know how to answer this question.

10. What do you plan to read next?
Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore

Kathryn | 563 comments 1. What book is on your nightstand now?
Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier

2. What was the last truly great book that you read?
Probably The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah - it was the last book I gave 5★ to.

3. If you could meet any writer – dead or alive – who would it be, and what would you want to know?
I've met some authors at my local library's author talks, and they're always lovely, but I don't think there's any one author that I would especially like to meet. And any of the authors who I read a lot of, and therefore may especially like to meet, I think I'd be too tongue-tied to ask questions of!

4. Are there any books that you own that are different from what you normally read or are outside of your comfort zone? Why did you buy it?
I'm not sure - I didn't buy it, but someone gave me The Yellow House by Emily O'Grady because someone had given it to them and they'd already read it. I have a feeling it's out of my comfort zone, but I'm not sure!

5. How do you organize your personal library?
It isn't organised!

6. What book have you always meant to read and haven’t gotten around to yet?
That's what my whole TBR shelf on GR is - books I've wanted to read, but just haven't gotten around to yet!

7. Do you remember the last book you put down without finishing?
The Map of Salt and Stars - I just couldn't get into it...

8. What kinds of stories are you drawn to?
Books with a good plot and believable characters.

9. If you could require world leaders to read one book, what would it be?
Ummm...??

10. What do you plan to read next?
Michael Robotham's Good Girl, Bad Girl or Thirst by L.A. Larkin
