2020 total: 10 books (8 chosen specifically for the monthly tags)

This is an ongoing personal challenge - I'm keeping a running total but I think I'll star the ones I read in 2020.
I'm counting anything where the book being set in a particular state feels meaningful, i.e. where I feel I've come away with a greater understanding of the experience of living in that state, either now or in the past. Ideally the author would also be from the state, but I'm not going to make this a firm requirement. I'm including memoirs with a strong narrative (e.g. Hillbilly Elegy but not In the Shadow of Statues) as well as novels.
