The next 10 books is the Plus part of the challenge almost like a bonus. Below are the 10 categories you need to read a book for.

Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore 4/17/2020

14 & 15. Two books from a series you haven't completed yet (I'm sure we all have those, the books don't have to be the same series if you don't them to be)

18. A book you meant to read in 2019 but never got around to it.
Mythos: The Greek Myths Retold 5/27/2020

19. A book that came out before you were born. (I know this one might have been harder than the others to do)
Dread Journey 2/25/2020

20. A book that is done by more than one author (You can take this one as a book that is short stories by different authors, or written by more like a James Patterson, Janet Evanovich and I'm sure there are other's).
A Woman's Eye 8/3/2020

Barbara K Just added my first for the challenge. Eight Perfect Murders - I won an ARC in a giveaway. I liked it but won’t have time for a review until tomorrow.

Donnajo | 4355 comments Good for you. I just updated mine.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments Nice Barbara! You are all ready for the March 2020 group read discussion!
Carol is friends with the author, Peter Swanson, and we've made it a standard to include his new book each year.

I'm looking forward to the group read for this one. There are a number of plot elements I'd love to discuss but refrained from mentioning in my review.

Barbara K Just finished Bluebird, Bluebird, which has been sitting on my waiting-on-audio list for a while. It was OK, but it didn't click with me as well as I had hoped.

Donnajo | 4355 comments good for you.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments Barbara: in my review of Bluebird, Bluebird I said it moved slowly and I didn't care for the ending, I thought the premise was interesting.

Barbara K I realized this morning that I hadn't updated my list in a while. In addition to adding one I finished today, I tucked in a couple from earlier this year that I'd forgotten to put it - like one that I actually started last year and didn't pick up again until February! That proves the value of my "tabled for now" bookshelf. Sometimes it's just not the right book at that time, but later it could work out.

Donnajo | 4355 comments The one I added earlier too was like for me besides always being overbooked with arcs in past I’ve now cut way back on arcs so finally owned book books could get read. The Katherine center owned was never right time yes I read it but storyline just wasn’t right time to read at dr’s office or other times with what we were going thru plus also had a arc by author and I don’t like reading same authors after each other I even decided to try doing a group read with another group I’m in on book but arcs again pushed it aside. Finally had no arcs to read so sat down yesterday to read it and kept reading it until I was finished probably read mire than half of book in a day and was determined to finish.

Barbara K Well, that’s why they call it a determination list !

message 12: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo | 4355 comments So true. Right now I’m determinate to get any owned print books (which is never ending)read and off shelves and I’ll say all my books are unread since there are very few read ones I keep. That is not even counting ebooks.

Barbara K Four more to go, all from the TBR shelves. Shouldn't be a problem!

WTG, You can do it.

message 15: by Ann (new)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments Nice Barbara: I am going to try to slide some I have read into slots on my determination list too. I had thought the "more than one author" would be easy, but so far nothing has grabbed me.

Donnajo | 4355 comments The top 10 is easier to deal with getting read it’s more open.

Absolutely! At this point even my TBR shelves of audiobooks I already own are groaning (metaphorically speaking). Shouldn't be hard to knock these off.

I was in the same place, Ann, until I noticed A Woman's Eye hiding among my e-books. :-)

message 19: by Ann (new)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments Lol Barbara: If ever a tbr shelf would "groan", it would be my audio book shelf! I keep adding them as if I still have a commute, when all I do now is walk into my sunroom to work.
This gives me another good idea for determination books... ;)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments DJ: and yet for me, selecting the top ten determination books is harder... so many books I read because I want to, so they don't seem like they should be listed.
Ha ha, maybe I'll just list the last eight books I read for the year in those slots.

Barbara K Oh my, I just finished Nothing to See Here, which has been on my TBR list since last year. What a treasure! I seem to recall that you also enjoyed it, Ann.

message 22: by Ann (new)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments Barbara: I am glad you liked it too and am not surprised, we do often enjoy the same books!

Donnajo | 4355 comments Now I wish I bought with me Molokai but I decided I wanted to leave home. I think I finally into the Donahue one I left Robyn Carr at house yesterday and took that to beach figured I wouldn’t have a chance to read anything else even if I could finish Carr.. now I’m enjoying the other one. Got rid of 4 books last night at LFL (2 my sister finished and 2 I’m letting go of and I still have a bag in car of more to bring might bring more today woman says she has 500 in garage to let go of why doesn’t to put more out not a good amount now I got a hockey story for Robbie but he has to read of mice and men first for school I hooked him up with library audio so he has that plus print to g along with he it’s still like pulling teeth but I remember reading it back in high school I think and didn’t like it didn’t tell him that . It’s only 3 hours long and Gary Sinese reads it kind of told him about the speed thing tried it on my iPad but he sounds like a mouse in fast speed part of me was thinking of listening to it with him not sure if niece is coming today or tomorrow for him but if he comes home unless they put it on his laptop he won’t have audio which is thru library site on my sister’s iPad.

message 24: by Ann (new)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments DJ. The audio sounds like a good incentive, and I like Gary Sinise’s voice. The trick with speeding up an audio is to only do it when regular speed seems too slow, and tick it up just a bit at a time until it sounds right.
I don’t remember what I thought of Of Mice and Men when I read it for school (and was never a fan of required reading, emphasis on the required part) but enjoyed it when I read it again later.

message 25: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo | 4355 comments They were going to start it last night but I wasn’t sure when they got back if they did or not. Kids stayed they have to bring them up on Monday.

message 26: by Barbara K (new)

Barbara K Didn't realize it, but I actually finished this a couple of weeks back with Robicheaux by James Lee Burke. I've been wanting to read another in this series for years and this turned out to be, for me, a good choice.

Here's hoping that next year I may have the time to sit down and crack open some of those print books that jeer at me from the shelves!

message 27: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo | 4355 comments WTG Barbara congrats on finishing challenge.

message 28: by Barbara K (new)

Barbara K Thanks, Donnajo! I always find this one fun, although it would be even more fun if I had time to read print books!

message 29: by Ann (new)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments Barbara: congrats! Nice to end on a high note book too!
I enjoyed Robicheaux too. I started the next in line and hope to get back to it before I lose my loan.
Come to think of it, it would fit on my determination list if I do!

Barbara K Thanks, Ann. It was your excellent review of Robicheaux that turned me in that direction, so thanks again!
