Edgarf | 63 comments Hi Katie, to tell the truth I find Mat to be more annoying than Nynaeve. I do hear he becomes a stronger character as the series progressives. Actually, I kind of like the fact that Nynaeve is a fighter. She is right after Lan in pushing to get into my top 5. :-) I think she is going to turn out a badass.

Edgarf | 63 comments I think I had a good reading session last night. I’ve made it to chapter 19. (view spoiler). I should find out soon.

Just wondering, how many in this thread are on there first journey of WOT like me. If not, how many times have you read it?

Choko (chokog) | 12600 comments Bicky, welcome to the discussion (+_+)

I have read all the books except the last one... I couldn't make myself say goodbye to the characters... I know it doesn't make any sense, but it is what it is...

Some of the books are a bit of a sludge for some people, but I found those enjoyable myself, because they had more intrigue and plotting... You can't skip any of them though, they are definitely contingent on each other. The last couple of books were finished by Brandon Sanderson, but he and Jordan were in completely the same page, since he worked off of his notes and had spoken with him while he was dying... The ones I read were great! You can feel the difference in the writing, but it is not bothersome at all. He even improved on the series some, since the feel of his pending demise definitely bled into the writing... I would definitely recommend sticking with it and maybe join us for discussion (+_+)

Katie K | 2615 comments Welcome to the thread Bicky ^~^ I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying the series!!

While I haven't fully read through many books in this world quite yet, my good friend has recently finished them all. She said some of the mid to late books were a trudge to get through...but that it is all worth it! The characters and the world are just so fantastic! And now that Sanderson has helped to finish the series now is the perfect time for you to get your read on Bicky ^~^

What's some of your favorite moments from The Eye of the World? Why do you like it so much ^^

message 55: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell | 105 comments I started the series years ago in hardcover. I got through the the first three and got hung up in book 4. I restarted the series in 2015 and reread books 1-3. I read book 4 all the way through this time in 2016. 2017 was a bad year for me and I didn't get to book 5 until 2018. I finished book 6 at the end of last year. This year I have read book 7, New Spring (for the third time), and am 15% into Book 8.

Choko (chokog) | 12600 comments I read the first 5 books when they came out, then read everything but the last book several years ago... Figured it is time to actually finish the series this time around◉‿◉

Edgarf | 63 comments (view spoiler). I’m finally in the back half of book 2. I’m going to spend most of the evening reading.

Note: books 4 through 6 arrived in the mail today.

Choko (chokog) | 12600 comments Yay! So happy for you (θ‿θ)

I loved the fact that this is a coming of age book involving a whole set of people and not just one.

message 60: by Choko (new)

Choko (chokog) | 12600 comments Yeah. It is pretty obvious that all the kids from the village are going to be important to the running story. And I agree, there are a whole lot of strong women, good or bad, in these books, and I love it◉‿◉

message 61: by Edgarf (new)

Edgarf | 63 comments I agree too, but I’m still waiting for Mat to get with the program:-)

message 62: by Choko (new)

Choko (chokog) | 12600 comments Yeah, Mat is definitely a pain in the ass at this point... I don't remember when he gets more likable, but he does.

message 63: by Edgarf (new)

Edgarf | 63 comments I’ve just completed The Great Hunt. It was much better than the first book. I made a list of my favorite 5 characters earlier when I was still early into the book. Now that I’m done I got to say Nynaeve has moved to the number one slot. She’s a badass.

message 64: by Choko (new)

Choko (chokog) | 12600 comments I love Nynaeve too! Not as much as Moiraine, but in the vicinity. This was a better book than the first in my opinion as well.

Coming of ages books are best <3

Nynaeve, huh? That's surprising! A lot of people in this chat were annoyed by her a bit, no? lol

message 66: by Choko (new)

Choko (chokog) | 12600 comments The people I noticed are most annoyed by Nynaeve are usually women. I don't know why, because I love her, but I have noticed that... Weird

Who knows? O.o

I was kinda indifferent towards her myself, lol

message 68: by Choko (new)

Choko (chokog) | 12600 comments I love her, but I understand that she is not everyone's cup of tea... I just love how strong most of the females in this series are, no matter if they are on the side of Light or Darkness...

message 69: by Edgarf (new)

Edgarf | 63 comments I like Nynaeve because she doesn’t take any s.., well you know.

message 70: by Choko (new)

Choko (chokog) | 12600 comments I know (+_+)(+_+)(+_+)

message 71: by Katie (new)

Katie K | 2615 comments She certainly doesn't. lol XD

message 72: by [deleted user] (new)

I’m currently on chapter 25. I’m not as engaged as I was with the first book, but hopefully this book is just a big buildup to the third book, considering that title.

message 73: by Choko (new)

Choko (chokog) | 12600 comments I am sorry you are not enjoying it as much, Layla. These books all seem to start slower and kind of build up little by little...

Robbie (robertajayne) | 2 comments Hi. Just popping this comment here, although I know this read ended earlier on this year - I've just reread Eye Of The World and am aiming to start The Great Hunt at the start of October. Would love to buddy read with someone to discuss everything, I've read all 14 books once and I'm trying to make it through again haha.

message 75: by Gloria (new)

Gloria (glorialeann) I’m interested in buddy reading with you, Roberta

Awesome! Can't wait to experience the story alongside someone else. It won't be until October that I can start reading so if anyone else sees this thread in the meantime and wants to join then feel free to message one of us :)
