I read this book in the last couple of years, and it was new at the time. Setting is modern US, in the west and northwest. There may have been two books in the series. Main character is a woman who was raised in foster care and has become a hunter of missing children, while she tries to find out about her own past. She hunts for a little girl who went missing with her parents while out cutting down a Christmas Tree. I do remember that the girl is found in the end. There are more details, but they're very spoilery. I want to find out if the author ever wrote another in the series.
