Which do you think would be the most difficult for you - a month without reading or a month without internet?

(Don't worry, we won't ask you to prove your answer!)

Heather | 97 comments A month without reading... The first few days without the internet would hurt but I'd quickly get over that! I could never get over not having a book by my side to read.

Definitely a month without reading, for me. Five seconds in, I'd have an overwhelming desire to do nothing but READ, and I'd probably pace around for the entire month trying to think of something else to do. Internet... staying away would almost feel like a holiday. :P

message 4: by Aitziber (new)

Aitziber I honestly can't pick. Reading is very important to me, but I love people who live on the side of the world who I can't just call because of money and timezone reasons.

Tracey | 916 comments Tough call... I'm going to go internet.

A month away from the internet might be nice, but I do love the access to information any time I need it. I would be bored without being able to read for a whole month, but I think I could find enough hobbies to do otherwise.

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments Likely reading - but please don't hold me to it.

Jill (themagicofbooks) | 4 comments I only say a month without internet because I need it for school.
But I would be miserable if I could not read for a month.

message 8: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Coyle | 1557 comments I would say reading, but since this group and Goodreads, that you all would be constantly on my mind. Who would I discuss my books with? It would be a long month!

What do you mean, Iasa?

Odd... that only comes up for me if I hover over the person's name.

message 11: by Aitziber (new)

Aitziber I think Goodreads may be having server issues, which lead to that kind of download mistakes. Member pictures are not loading for me on the website, either.

message 12: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments I need the Internet for work and for my business so I wouldn't be able to go a month without that. However, if we took work out of the equation I would definitely be able to handle that over not having books. It would be a challenge without this group and keeping up with my friends and family, but manageable if there is a definitive cut off date.

Roseanne | 1239 comments Forget the Internet, I could never ever go a month without reading.

dely Like Kassandra, I need the internet for work but also for my son's school. I would love to stay one month without the internet but it's nearly impossible nowadays and it would be a problem. Well, on the internet I could read with some application or pdf files! Is this cheating?

message 15: by Cristal (new)

Cristal Punnett Oh that's such a hard choice, I love that internet to catch up with friends and news, so I guess I would give up reading for a month.

Yes. ;)

message 17: by Michael (new)

Michael (micky74007) a month without reading

except for goodreads, I could do without the internet period.

message 18: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (bd200789) A month without reading would be nearly impossible for me. I'd much rather do without the internet.

message 19: by Raquel (new)

Raquel Romero (raqueljeannie) | 35 comments A month without reading. I'd get so much more reading done if not for the internet. I'm not on Facebook and social media that much anymore but I do google a lot of things and get sucked in blogs and stuff and I'm so sure that if I had to go a month without internet I'd read at least 10+ books a month. Lol

message 20: by Happy (new)

Happy (worldhasteeth) I have taken reading hiatuses before, often when I've just finished something particularly emotional or profound and I just want my mind to digest it for a while. The main time I'd miss reading would be during bathtime and during Bedtime Story Hour when my husband and I read together at night.

But... the internet is where my friends and family live. So I couldn't give that up at all.

message 21: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 112 comments Internet, hands down. I read on my iPad primarily, so I'd struggle getting new books, and no goodreads would be tough. Also, I am an Internet addict... It's my go to news/opinion/weather source.

message 22: by Marina (new)

Marina (sonnenbarke) It's a tough question, but a month without the Internet would be worse... I work with the net and it would mean I couldn't work for an entire month...

message 23: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Pickstone | 563 comments Easy - I already took myself off the heavy internet useage with the help of an AOD counsellor and a padded cell..... there's no way I would even consider doing that with reading!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Guilty here, but internet. I do tons on the internet - I would read a lot more if I got off it. I would hate to cut off the social internet connections, online banking and bill pay, working on my website, and moderating a forum I manage, not to mention obsess over books on this website.

Now if it was a case of giving up forever, I think I'd have to drop internet if it meant even no online reading allowed. Could never give up books forever.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Reading definitely.
