238.
Always Young and Restless: My Life On and Off America's #1 Daytime Drama by Melody Thomas Scott - I don't read a lot of non-fiction, but when I do it is usually a biography. When I read a biography, it has to be of someone that I have heard of. I had certainly heard of Melody Thomas Scott, also known as Nikki Newman from the soap opera, The Young and the Restless. She sure has an interesting and at times, heartbreaking life. **** 9/6/2020

Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer - I enjoyed this. It was Edward's perspective of the first Twilight book. Sometimes it got a little slow, since, between the book and the movie, I knew the story so well. Now, if she will only finish The Host series... 9/18/2020

She won't. The publisher doesn't want it anymore. They were expecting a Twilight-like reception and that is not what it got.

To Catch A Thief by David Dodge - The book that the same named Alfred Hitchcock movie was based on. This was a good, easy to read book. A little different from the movie, but that was OK. Kate starts to volunteer at The Home for Exceptional Ladies. All is going well except she can't seem to please grumpy, 97 year old Cecily Finn. After much persistence, Kate finally breaks through to Cecily and a nice friendship has formed. **** 9/30/2020

The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson - Second time I read this book (and saw the movie, too). It still scares me 40 years after having read it the first time. The Lutz family moves into a home, that a mass murder took place in. Some people claim this story is not true... my library has it listed as non-fiction. **** 10/4/2020
258.
Scythe by Neal Shusterman - It is the future. Humankind has come up with a way to end death. Infact, they can turn back their "clocks" and become younger... multiple times. Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns - This book reminded me of The Rievers by William Faulkner. This was an entertaining, coming of age story of Will in the town of Cold Sassy, Georgia. **** 10/9/2020

Just started the next book in the series, Recipe for Persuasion. Pretty good so far.
262.
The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street by Helene Hanff - A bit of a slow starter, but I ended up liking it. The 1st book in the series was written in letter format.... her correspondence with a book dealer in England who helped her find special books. Over time, they they built up quite a pen pal friendship. She was encouraged to visit him in London but never did. This 2nd book is written in a diary format of the trip she finally took to London. *** 10/10/2020
263.
Monster, She Wrote: The Women Who Pioneered Horror and Speculative Fiction by Lisa Kröger - I was just whittling down my TBR list, and then I read this book on women horror authors. This non-fiction book had so many good suggestions about authors that I didn't know about. ***** 10/11/2020

266.
The Promised Neverland, Vol. 2 by Kaiu Shirai - The saga continues ... Emma, Norman, and Ray continue to secretly train the younger kids to escape from Grace Field House, but there is a twist. **** 10/18/2020
267.
The Life We Bury by Allen Eskens - Wow! There must be something in the water, because I have been finding so many good Minnesota authors. This was the story of a college student who has an assignment to interview and write a paper about a senior citizen. Joe agrees to interview Carl Iverson who was a Viet Nam vet... THEN things start to get dicey... ***** 10/19/2020

My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix - This was an 80s retro visit with two best friends, Abby and Gretchen. They were besties from elementary school through sophomore year at high school. Then something happened that changed that. Something very weird. **** 10/19/2020
270.
Recipe for Persuasion by Sonali Dev - This story is part of a series that uses the "bones" of Jane Austen stories and the author then fleshes it out with the flavor of India. This book was based on Persuasion. **** 10/19/2020
