I only have 10 more pages to go. The print is so small in my book that it takes awhile. I had to take several breaks to get my breath back. When a book gets suspenseful like this I have to come up for air because every muscle stays tense and I dont breathe. If I wouldnt take so many breaks I would be finished by now.Crystal I would get the audiobook! The print is so small its hard to read. It takes me longer to read it when it is like this.

When it gets suspenseful like that, I have to put the book for a bit, too.

Take some deep breaths Mary. LOL... I hope you survive it and can sleep tonight. I'll get the audiobook for sure! Thanks guys.
Your welcome Crystal! You are in for a treat! I just finished it! I hope I dont have nightmares. It is excellent!
I finished Where Serpents Sleep today and started At the Stroke of Madness. Also started Me Before You on audio.

I just finished The Brass Verdict
and it was GREAT! 5 stars. I loved it. I'm now starting book 2 The Seed Buried Deep
Just finished The Crimson Crown which is the end of that series. It was very good. Also read Thrown Down which has brought me up to date with that series. Definitely a disappointment though. Tessa Bailey's earlier books were much better. Now I have
and
next which would catch me up with those series.

Great job, Meera!

I finished Death of a Glutton (aka Death of a Greedy Woman) by MC Beaton. It is the 8th book in the Hamish Macbeth series. I have not read this series for awhile and am happy to read this quick quirky series.I am now listening to A Necessary End another series I left hanging.

I'm up to book 4 in the Inspector Banks series, another one I have left hanging as well!

I finished Book #8 in Margaret Coel's Wind River series:
, and I moved immediately to #9:
.There are several more books in this series, and I'm wondering how the author will move these familiar characters into new circumstances, or whether their relationship will change. Interesting principals: a female Arapaho lawyer and a Boston Irish priest who was "banished" to serve the parish on the Reservation.

Yay! Glad you've caught up in Sebastian St. Cyr.

I finished Fatal Honor by Misty Evans, Shadow Force International #2, and liked it even more than the first book. This is my surprise series (agreed to review the first book in error) and it's turning out to be a good mistake. Here's my review.
I'm now reading Nobody But You by Jill Shalvis, Cedar Ridge #3.
I'm now reading Nobody But You by Jill Shalvis, Cedar Ridge #3.
I'm really happy about it because I was pretty annoyed with myself when I discovered this wasn't the author I was recalling when I accepted the request:)
I guess I will be adding that Misty Evans series. I am impatiently waiting for Cedar Ridge #3. I really am loving that series.
I wasn't crazy about the first book in Cedar Ridge but loved the second.
I hope you enjoy Misty Evans' series!

I'm reading the first books in a couple of new historical mystery series. I'm about halfway through
which has a midwife as the main protagonist. She's also a Quaker so all the "thee" and "thou" usage is taking some getting used to. The other is
. I haven't gotten to the murder in this one yet though.
I am now listening to The Hanging Valley by Peter Robinson (I noticed this was available on the elibrary so had to grab it!). I am now reading Design for Dying by Renee Patrick (NG arc). I am enjoying the classic Hollywood references.

I am only about 15% into it but so far so good. I will let you know how it goes!
I look forward to your final thoughts! Well, I could've sworn I had marked it as 'To Read' but I guess I never actually did. It's marked now!
I finished listening to The Visitor by Amanda Stevens, Graveyard Queen #4, and loved being back to this series. Here's my review.
I'm now listening to The Obsession by Nora Roberts and am having a tough time putting it down.

Yeah, I have a problem with the thees and thous. I know that many readers have difficulty with Scots brogue but it's never bothered me as much as the Quaker "dialect".

Yeah, I'm done with the book now and I never did really get used to it. It kept taking me out of the story, also the heavy use of people's first AND last names.

Mary, I rated it 2.5 stars but keep in mind that 3 star ratings are the most common rating I give - because it means I liked the story! (I pretty much stick to the GR explanations for the ratings). I'm stingy about handing out 4s and even more rarely do I give 5 stars. So, for me, this story didn't wow me but I liked enough that I'm willing to read more in the series (if there is more). For those who are interested in the romantic aspects of a story, the lead heroine is already in a courting relationship with a local doctor. It's a sweet relationship but if, like me, you like to see a relationship grow and develop from the start that's obviously not the case here. No love triangle in sight though so that's a plus for me!It's got an average 4.0 rating on GR though so other people obviously loved it so there's that.
Thanks Veronica! Did you read any of the St Cyr Sebastian series? I still might try it but looking for a series that has that Wow factor. The average 4.0 rating though is intrigueing me.

It's my favorite historical mystery series. Some other historical mystery series that I enjoy and that you might like are the Gaslight Mystery books and the Lady Darby books. The Gaslight mysteries have dual leads, a midwife and a police detective, in turn of the century New York. The Lady Darby series is set in 1830s Scotland.
Thanks so much! Im reading the second book in the series this month. Im a little behind but hope to catch up soon in this series with the group. I am checking out the other two series you mentioned also. Ive heard of both of them and I think I have the first book in the Gaslight Mystery.
Adding in my recommendation for Sebastian St. Cyr, The Gaslight Mysteries and Lady Darby - I'm actually listening to
right now and really enjoying it.
I also recommend Lady Julia Grey series by Deanna Raybourn and the Molly Murphy series by Rhys Bowen.

I have the audiobooks on Hoopla for the Gaslight mysteries and Lady Darby. At least the first book is on it but havent checked to see if they have all the others.I want to read The Lady Julia Grey series also. Ive had this on my tbr forever now. Checked out the Lady Emily series too and have the first audiobook in that also. Thanks Lauren and Kris! Yay! Lots of listening time!
I now am listening to Naked in Death and reading The Darker Side.
I'm currently reading Death of a Dishonorable Gentleman
, another fairly new historical mystery series and A Darker Shade of Magic
, to feed my fantasy tastes.
I just finished a group/buddy read that finally came into the library:
.I liked it a lot; this is the second time I've read this one, since I'd probably picked it off the library's new books shelf when it came out and didn't pick up on the series until the group read began.
This paperback copy has been well loved!
