I finished Tempting Mr. Townsend by Anna Campbell, Dashing Widows #2, and enjoyed it..a lot! Here's my review.

I'm now reading Just Give Me a Reason by Rebecca Rogers Maher, Lopez Brothers #2.

Tracey (trakka) | 1363 comments Finished The Fall of Five. It's a shame that the next 2 books of the series aren't available on audible in the UK. This means I'll have to read them in print form which will take longer as they join my huge queue of books in print/kindle format!

The Fall of Five (Lorien Legacies, #4) by Pittacus Lore

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 1631 comments I'm zipping along with the Ex-Heroes series. The only thing is that I accidentally read book four, Ex-Purgatory (Ex-Heroes, #4) by Peter Clines ahead of the third book, Ex-Communication (Ex-Heroes, #3) by Peter Clines , so I'm reading #3 now.

Hope that didn't make too big of a difference.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 1631 comments I don't think it made too huge of a difference in terms of the story although it did spoil the introduction of one character for me. I'm convinced though that by reading out of order I may have triggered the end of days.

I'm also starting the audiobook Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) | 2447 comments I have been listening to Robyn Carr's Grace Valley series on audio the past few days. I am now on book 3 - Down by the River. I am really enjoying the series more than I thought I would. I love the quirky characters in this one!

I also finished a five part novella series (historical fiction written by different authors) called a Year Without a Duke - I enjoyed most of the novellas but course wished they were longer.

Lol, same here. Or at least before Thunder Point. I know it has gotten mixed reviews, but if you read it less as a romance and more of a contemporary fiction, I think it is more enjoyable. It is more about a town and what is happening. I really enjoy Therese Plummer's reading of the book. Let me know what you think of them if you read them :)

message 3664: by Laura (new)

Laura I'm reading all your posts about what series you are all reading, kind of laughing cause I'm seeing meaningful series, deep books and non fiction etc and here I am reading the Pucked series. Lmao.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 656 comments I started a series that has a Navajo female FBI agent who goes back to her home reservation to try to solve a crime against her family: Blackening Song (Ella Clah, #1) by Aimée Thurlo .

I'm on page 138, and I don't know yet whether I will like this enough to continue to Book 2. It is completely different from the other Navajo series I really do like (By Margaret Coel, set in Wyoming).
This one is set in New Mexico.

I don't know how I found this series, but I'll finish the book and let you know!

Melissa, I do my best listening under my headphones while cleaning or waiting in line somewhere. Lately, I've even taken to wearing them while grocery shopping, my most dreaded chore, and I've transformed that experience!

Good luck!

That's typically been my experience too, Melissa. Recently though I've tried audiobooks on my work commute and that has actually worked out pretty well. I do wonder though if I develop the same amount of investment in the story when I'm just listening to it as opposed to reading it off the page myself. I wonder if there have been any studies on that.

message 3676: by ❆ Crystal ❆ (last edited Mar 31, 2016 06:53AM) (new)

❆ Crystal ❆ (crystal_wright) I struggled with my first couple of audiobooks. I'd zone out and have to rewind... Not so much anymore. In fact, I'd probably switch to audiobooks full time if I could. But, I still read faster and I can't sit and listen. I have to be up and doing something to listen....     sitting = sleeping.

message 3677: by Laura (new)

Laura I have never done an audio, I don't think I could concentrate and remember any of it. Good for all of you that can.

message 3678: by ❆ Crystal ❆ (new)

❆ Crystal ❆ (crystal_wright) IMO - audiobooks aren't what they used to be. Some are such an amazing experience that words can't really describe it. Some narrators bring so much to the book... they aren't just reading it to you. It can be an experience like no other. I've listened to some narrators where I really didn't want the book to end.

Ditto! Audiobook narration has become a booming industry with so many talented artists competing for these performances. I use that word deliberately because that's what they've become. When done well, they can make a mediocre story good and a good one great.

I agree with you both completely! 2 examples for me are ones I am currently listening to. I think if I read Rebecca in print I would struggle but the narrator, Anna Massey is really bringing it to life for me. Also Stephen Fry reading the Harry Potter series is amazing!

Mary Beth | 974 comments Ive been really bad today. I got off work early just so that I can listen to my audiobook of The Visitor by Amanda Stevens. I love the Graveyard Queen Series! The narrator is so good! It is so magical and I remember everything I listened too. I love Hoopla. In the past I have listened to audiobooks on You Tube and found the narrators to be really bad. I havent listened to audiobooks in a long time due to this. Now that I am in this magical world of audiobooks I found that I have been missing out. I have 8 hours of reading and listening to the audiobook. I have 4 hours left in Gone to Die. Then 4 hours to listen to The Visitor.
I hope I accomplish my goals today lol! Last day of the month!

Jonetta I love the Lucy Kendall series also! I think Gone to Die is her best one so far. I love it.

That's too funny. Leaving work early for your audiobook. LOL
I have a wedding to attend tonight and I've been racking my brain on how I can sneak an earbud in whilst I'm there. LOL

I'll have to check out the series you are talking about.
Yes, narration means everything! I love some of David Baldacci's books narrated by Ron McLarty & Orlagh Cassidy
Not only are they AMAZING... but there's sound effects of explosions, squealing tires, gun shots etc

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) | 2447 comments I think sometimes different genres work better for people. I find that nonfiction sometimes does not work for me on audio as I like rereading bits. I find that I cook and bake better when I listen to an audiobook as I take my time, lol.

Lol Jonetta! Yeah I cant believe how good the narration is! I cant quit listening to it. I went to Dollar General and bought me a small headset to listen to it. It works so much better than earbuds.

Lol Crystal! I hope you find a way to put the ear buds in. It might be hard to do at a wedding. And I thought I was bad getting off work early.

Kris I cooked last night while listening and will be doing the same tonight.
