What series are you reading?
Holy stink this is pretty confusing! Why would the books not at least follow the publication order? That's kind of odd. I am up to date in both series and I love them both, confusion aside :). I was still initially pretty excited to see that Fair Game ending move forward (which apparently I already had in Night Broken lol) and Dead Heat certainly did elude to the idea that something major is brewing and I'm really looking forward to it. It's kind of annoying me right now that technically I should have held off on NB until after Dead Heat. Not a major flub but now I'll know that maybe I shouldn't be after the latest Briggs books as soon as they come out!
Lauren - do you think she's gearing up for a crossover novel? That would be pretty cool.

That does seem to be the direction she's going in.
I agree that the fact that
predates
timeline wise is a bit of a flub, especially considering the Night Broken was released several months before Dead Heat. Someone wasn't paying attention to their planning :0(

Erin wrote: "I almost want to re-read NB to see if I pick up on anything that I missed the first time around."Erin, let me know if you want to do a re-read. I'd be up for it. At some point I'd like to revisit some other series as well, including October Daye, Mercy Thompson, Raines Barnes, and Paradox (Lauren, let me know when you start this - even if it's next year - and I'll join you.)
Will do, Sunny.
I also want to return to the October Daye series. I've only read book #1 so far and I might to a re-read of NB before the next Mercy books comes out.

I find the series order really weird too. Maybe it's not that it pre-dates Night Broken but that they're concurrent? They didn't really mention anything about what Mercy was up to - just referred to her a few times. Whatever the case it is confusing and I too want to re-read Night Broken to see if I catch anything related to Dead Heat. Oh, and Night Broken pre-dates Dead Heat by a year! It came out in March of 2014 (Patricia Briggs' book always seem to come out in March).

I'd actually like to do a re-read of all the Mercy Thompson world books in the order listed on the website. The first time I read the books I read the first six Mercy Thompson books and then read the novella and the first two Alpha and Omega books, not realizing there was some cross-over. I'm having such a good time revisiting the Cut & Run series, I thought it would be re-read another series.
is not set up before
. I think it's definitely after. It's mentioned in Dead Heat how the events of Fair Game happened "several months" ago. However at the beginning of Night Broken, the Fae Lord from Fair Game goes to Mercy looking for the walking stick. The fact that a character from Fair Game popped up in Night Broken tells me that Night Broken happened right after Fair Game, while in Dead Heat, you don't feel that immediacy. And by the way, the walking stick is back (view spoiler)["br"]>["br"]>
I set aside Force of Attraction by D.D. Ayres to read Edge of Forever, the final book in the When You're Gone trilogy. It was a fitting end to the series with a surprising climax. Loved the trilogy (review to come).
I also finished listening to The Shadows by J.R. Ward, which does indeed have a shocker. I'm still mulling over my thoughts about it.
I'm now listening to the last book in the Sin Brothers series, Total Surrender by Rebecca Zanetti.

Thanks for the reminder about the walking stick, D.G.

I finished book 8 in Patricia Wentworth's Miss Silver series (The Key) and enjoyed it. I also finally finished Live Bait(book 2) which took me a bit to get into and I did not enjoy it as much as the first book as the Monkeewrench gang wasn't in it as much as I thought. I am now reading Andrea Kane's newest novel, The Silence That Speaks, book 4 in the Forensic Instincts series.
Okay, I'm struggling with the character identities in Force of Attraction. The heroine's name is Nicole but everyone calls her Cole except her ex-husband (the hero) who calls her Nikki. Her undercover name is Noel.
Aaarrrggghhh!

I thought Rebecca Zanetti did a good job wrapping up that series. I really liked that last book.
April Reading Plan.Just completed: Black Harvest by Alex Lukeman (#4 in The Project Series)
Will select from :
Severance Kill by Tim Stevens (#1 in the Martin Calvary series)
Wanted by Nick Stephenson (#1 in the Leopold Blake series)
Killing The Beasts by Chris Simms (#1 in DI Spicer series)
In Good Faith by Scott Pratt (#2 in the Joe Dillard series)
I finished Force of Attraction by D.D. Ayres, K-9 Rescue #2, and agree with Sunny that this one's the best to date in the series. Here's my review.
I'm now reading Barefoot by the Sea by Roxanne St. Claire, final book in the Barefoot Bay series.

I finished
and really enjoyed the book! I am now reading
(Book 3) by Cynthia Eden. This will finish the series for me.

Jonetta wrote: "I haven't read the first yet."Sorry I assumed that because it was a M&S group read that you had read the first one. I ran the discussion so that is not necessarily the case!
Jonetta wrote: "I've got to figure out how to get Kane on my schedule."It took me FOREVER to get back into this series with book 3. I totally understand.
I finished the novella (#0.5) in the new series The Original Heartbreakers. The One You Want by Gena Showalter and it was okay. I'm not over-enthused with the endearment "honey" and for some reason it rubs me the wrong way when a young guy is calling a woman he barely knows that all the time. It seems so dated, and either condescending or presumptuous. I know that is totally ridiculous, but I can't help it. I mean it even affected my rating, lol.I also finished book 2, All Broke Down by Cora Carmack, in the Rusk University series, and LOVED it. It was such a good book.
I started the first book in the series Hidden Legacy, Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews on audio today and I am really enjoying it. The MC is reminiscent of Kate Daniels, but different enough that it works.
I just finished
. It is book 9 in the SEAL Brotherhood series. I thought it was ok, good enough to finish but not good enough to continue the series. :(

I don't think you're being ridiculous. Aside from being dated, it's odd and condescending when received from someone you don't know very well.

Started, well half way through the first book in a new series I'm starting.
.
Slow to start, but I think that's alright. It's a series so introduction is important.
I am really enjoying it.

I'm a HUGE fan of this series. Totally in love with it. Here's my review of the first book (with the original title): https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Barry Eisler is one of the few authors who's also a good narrator. He's also cute so I have a crush on him, LOL!

Yes, the author changed the name of the books when he got the rights back from the publisher. He didn't like all the names being with 'Rain this' and 'Rain that' (the main character is called John Rain) so he gave them titles that made more sense for the story.
Did you know they are making a movie starting Keanu Reeves?

There is definitely a (view spoiler)[war brewing between the humans and the fae. (hide spoiler)]
If I remember correctly, (view spoiler)[the walking stick is now in the possession of the Grey Lord whose daughter was attacked by the human serial killer in Fair Game. I have a feeling, however, that it will return to Mercy though (hide spoiler)]
