What series are you reading?

I have no idea why I stalled on this series. I enjoyed the first book, too.

I've heard..."Thanks, Robin! I think I'll try A Kiss at Midnight. I just signed up for the Scribd free trial and they have the whole series. I'm like a kid in a candy store ;).
@Erin - I've read the whole series except for the last book.
was my favorite. I also enjoyed
and
although many others didn't like that one. I actually almost chucked it in the beginning because there is a scene that made me angry but I ended up really liking it by the end. I didn't like
- the hero is a real jerk.

@Erin - I'll second what both Lauren and Robin said. A Kiss at Midnight, The Duke Is Mine, and Winning the Wallflower are all good. I also did not care for The Ugly Duchess or Seduced by a Pirate (mostly because the latter was only a novella and I think to tell the story satisfactorily it should have been a full-length).
I finished The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy by Julia Quinn. This book was not as light or humorous as her others in the series. There was still humor, just not as much as I've come to expect. But I did really like the heroine and mostly liked the hero. Also, I just finished a series! Yay for me.

quite a lot. In fact, it was one of my favorite books that year.

I'm glad you said this because I went back to look at my rating and I actually loved The Ugly Duchess as well (5 stars). It was Once Upon a Tower I was not so crazy about (3.5 stars). I should have double checked titles first!
Lauren wrote: "Ah well, I'm in the minority on
then. I graciously concede defeat :0)"Never defeat! Think how few authors and books there would be for us to find if we all liked exactly the same thing. Viva la difference!
Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm really enjoying James' writing and am excited to have found these books on Scribd! By the sounds of it I'll just have to try them all and see what I think :).
I've only read two books in the Fairy Tales series:
was just OK for me but loved
.I think the consensus is that the series is uneven. Most people love #2 but they are on the fence about the rest.
Upon reflection, do you think the underlying fairy tale influences your receptivity to the story? If you don't like the fairy tale....
I finished Against the Wall by Debra Webb and Regan Black, Dangerous Protectors #1. I enjoyed it and here's my review.
I'm now reading Masked by Moonlight by Nancy Gideon, By Moonlight #1.

Jonetta wrote: "Upon reflection, do you think the underlying fairy tale influences your receptivity to the story? If you don't like the fairy tale...."Interesting question, Jonetta. It would make sense if that were the case. It's just my luck that I was a fairy tale junky when I was young so I'll probably love them all ;).
Cinderella has always been one of my absolute favorite fairy tales so I have high hopes for A Kiss at Midnight! I keep thinking back to the Bridgerton book that had a Cinderella theme to it and how much I loved it. Was it Benedict's book? I can't seem to recall which it was now.

I agree, D.G. The opinions are varied and that makes this series all the more intriguing to me. Lol! That we all loved When Beauty Tamed the Beast makes sense to me. What a great story that was! :)
Joining Scribd has really thrown a serious wrench into my 2-3-4. I can't help myself, there's so much to choose from! It's like an all you can eat buffet featuring all of my favorite foods ;).Currently I'm reading A Kiss at Midnight by Eloisa James and listening to One Summer by Karen Robards.
Change of plans ... I didn't read the description of One Summer closely enough and I don't enjoy teacher/student type storylines so I've swapped it out for Wait for You by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
Jonetta wrote: "Upon reflection, do you think the underlying fairy tale influences your receptivity to the story? If you don't like the fairy tale...."I like all fairy tales equally enough so it wasn't that. I just found the first one a bit too silly.

And as a teacher, those plots probably just creep you out! Lol.
I just finished Beautiful Redemption by Jamie McGuire and I while I enjoyed it for the most part, I was so disappointed in the main male character. He comes from this bad-ass family of all boys and he was not the strong, alpha-male that he was set up to be in the last book. But the MC wasn't my favorite either. She was strong, but also abrasive and prickly. It was hard to like her. Overall I liked the story, it was just hard to connect with the characters. But I still love that Maddox family.

I really enjoyed Armentrout's writing in the Lux series so I thought I'd try this one out. So far so good!
Finished listening to Truth by Aleatha Romig, Consequences #2. This is the most bizarre trilogy I've ever read/listened to. Mixed feelings but it certainly hooked me. Here's my review.
I'm now listening to Blind Faith by Rebecca Zanetti, Sin Brothers #3.

Armentrout has yet to disappoint me, she's an automatic read for me.

I need to get caught up on the Lux series. I really enjoyed the audio on the first few and would like to continue in this format but I don't want to pay full price for those audios so my current strategy is to pout about it for a while after which I will surely give in and buy them anyway :).
I just started a new series, the first book is Written in Red by Anne Bishop and I am really enjoying it. I have been leery of starting any series with shifters or vampires, or anything paranormal really, just because I felt like it was all becoming so redundant. Not the case here.
Jonetta wrote: "I finished One Wish by Robyn Carr earlier, Thunder Point #7, and here's my review.
"I love Thunder Point! Even though all the books in the series aren't equal IMO, they are still good and I can't wait to read the next one so I can visit again.
Monica wrote: I have been leery of starting any series with shifters or va..."I have the leery feeling too. I have this book on my TBR too but am needing a change from vampires!
I finished Broken Soul. I'm now completely caught up on the books and short stories for this series but haven't reviewed them all.
Laura (Kyahgirl) wrote: "I have the leery feeling too. I have this book on my TBR too but am needing a change from vampires! "Well, I haven't really gotten too much of vampires in this yet. I'm not sure what the rest of the book will hold, but so far they are pretty much in the background.
Written in Red is really different sort of UF - now that I think about it, I think that's how I started my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... (no spoilers)I totally recommend it.
I finished Crocodile on the Sandbank and ended up loving it! What a romp! There wasn't too much of a mystery but the shenanigans of these characters were so funny. I loved Amelia and Emerson, they are such a great couple...and what a "courtship". This is one of those books where the couple bicker a lot but they were so funny together. He couldn't have been more perfect for her.Anyhow, I loved it so much that I immediately started The Curse of the Pharaohs but had to spend a credit because my library only has the version narrated by an American. I mean really, why have an American narrator (narrating with American accent, no less) where pretty much everybody in the book is British?

I love this series, too. It was perfect to follow Golden Son:)

I finished Unbound (Magic ex Libris book 3) by Jim C. Hines. This makes me current in this series. I'm not sure if he'll write another or not.I'm now starting The Lost by James Patterson (Witch & Wizard book 5)
I finished Masked by Moonlight by Nancy Gideon, By Moonlight #1 and enjoyed it. I'll definitely be continuing the series and here's my review.
I'm now reading Barefoot in White by Roxanne St. Claire, The Brides of Barefoot Bay #1, a spinoff of her Barefoot Bay series. I started this afternoon and am already about halfway through. I'll definitely be binge reading this trilogy.

I just read Julie Ann Walker's
, A Black Knights Inc. series book. I know I've read some (if not all) the books in this series, but I will have to look them up in order to see whether I'm caught up with this series. Got the book from the local public library. If you like Black Ops guys whose cover is to build and restore motorcycles, whose missions are definitely Romantic Suspense genre, here's a series to consider.

I started Red Rising the other day when I saw that it was set to expire in 3 days and that there were 2 people behind me waiting at my library and I am really enjoying it! Unfortunately it will not stop snowing where I live so I'm spending hours each day shovelling and the darn thing is going to expire on me before I finish. All that to say thanks for recommending it! :)

I love this series. There are similar community themes to VR but it's almost more contemporary fiction. There are several storylines in play, generally, in each story. The couples tend to be older, several single parents. It's a wonderful series.

Beauty and the Beast was my favorite in the series. I also liked A Kiss at Midnight and a novella called Winning the Wallflower. I didn't care for either The Ugly Duchess or Seduced by a Pirate.
