Joel I have really enjoyed Alastair Reynolds' work so far, having read Revelation Space and Century Rain. Now I am thinking about purchasing Chasm City and Terminal World because my library does not have them, and I was wondering what the content is like for these books. I like to avoid books that have sex scenes of any kind. I don't mind if it mentions that characters are sleeping together, I just don't want any details. And how often is the f-word used? So if anyone could shed some light on this for me about these two books, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thane | 476 comments I wish I could answer that for you! Instead, I'll suggest Brandon Sanderson. Doesn't get much cleaner than that. Hope someone can answer your question.

Pat (patthebadger) | 100 comments If the two that you've read were acceptable then you should be ok with the rest of his back catalogue. Chasm City is a darker story - more of a noir detective story in a SF setting so might more gritty than you'd like but I can't recall Reynolds going in for graphic sex scenes or gratuitous bad language (beyond the occasional expletive) in any of his books.

Joel Thanks for your guys' help. I have enjoyed Reynolds' work so far, I just want to be sure before I spend some money. Also, I am a huge Brandon Sanderson fan. He's awesome.

Sean O'Hara (seanohara) | 2365 comments Terminal World does have a race of robots that insert tubes through peoples noses and suck out their brains, but no sex, so I guess that makes it clean and wholesome.
