When I typed my above comment, I took the books out of my bookshelves and put them in a physical pile in my living room (there are far more than the twelve books I listed) : seeing those books all the time, I've already read a few of them, and the year has not begun yet. So, I can take out of my reading pile the four novels of the "Harper Connelly" series by Cherlaine Harris. Those books will never make it to the 2020 TBR challenge :)Edit : I just couted the books I took out of the shelves, and the number is a staggering 115... several years of reading right here!
The nice plan with the list of 12 books is already out of the window. I've picked my first book for the TBR 2020 challenge, and it Man in Flames
by Serge Filippini. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to finish it before the new year, so I'll count it in 2020.I'll also count this book for my "around the world" challenge, because it takes place in Italy (and it's a historical novel, for the bingo).
I'm giving up on Man in Flames, the writting is good, but some themes are a bit too wierd/dark for me.On to the next book!

If you don't plan to return to this book, then you can count it in your climb because it is no longer on your to-be-read list.

Thanks, it's true it does reduce the TBR mountain. I plan, when I have enough books I read, to gather them all and give them away. It'll make space on my shelves for new books.
"The attack" is a good book, but I can't seem to "get into" the story. And I wanted Something lighter to read : I've picked up Cheaper by the Dozen by Frank B. Gilbreth and Ernestine Gilbreth Cary. I remember reading it as a teenager and laughing a lot. We'll see if it's still as good now;
I've just finished Cheaper by the Dozen, I read it in one afternoon. Funny and easy book. Also, number 3 done on my way toward Pike Peak.
5th book toward Pike Peak : La Gloire de mon père by Marcel Pagnol. It's a re-read because I plan to read the second book in the series soon.
8th book finished, it took me 4 months to read : The Attack by Yasmina Khadra. The writing is very good, but this book is so dark. Brace yourselves if you decide to read it.
9th book read this year, from my shelves : Animal Farm by George Orwell. I hesitated to add it to this challenge, because it's a re-read for me, but well… I really want to climb Pike Peak, so...
After one of my long "reading slumps", I'm back in buisness, with my 11th book : Out of Africa by Karen Blixen.
I've been stuck at eleven books since July : so close to the summit! (I hope it's the right word in English, too lazy to check right now). Anyway, I decided I really wanted to entirely climb Pike Peak, so I chose a small book amongst the hundreds of wild books that share my home with me : Mother Comes of Age by Driss Chraïbi. I've started it this morning and I'm about half-way though.
