Hi Y'all,

Join me in this month-long readathon! This is motivated by my (internal) need to check off all these books as read before 2019 ceases to exist! What do you have left to read? What would you like to accomplish by 12/31? I am hoping this readathon will motivate me and hold me accountable for this last month of this century! Gah, that's weird to say.

Cheers,
Juli

Shelby Suderman | 2181 comments Yes! I was waiting for this one!

I have four books I want to close out the decade with.

Finish reading: Nothing Lasts Forever (Die Hard, #1) by Roderick Thorp Good Omens The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Neil Gaiman

Read: An Unwanted Guest by Shari Lapena

And to round it off to an even 70 books done this year, I picked up Girls of Paper and Fire (Girls of Paper and Fire #1) by Natasha Ngan from the library yesterday.

The only books I can read for the rest of the year are below.

Series Started in 2019 and Want to Finish:
The Falconer Trilogy The Vanishing Throne (The Falconer, #2) by Elizabeth May The Fallen Kingdom (The Falconer, #3) by Elizabeth May (e-book)
Crazy Rich Asians Trilogy China Rich Girlfriend (Crazy Rich Asians, #2) by Kevin Kwan Rich People Problems (Crazy Rich Asians, #3) by Kevin Kwan (paperback)
Chronicles of The One Trilogy The Rise of Magicks (Chronicles of The One, #3) by Nora Roberts (audio)
The Lord of the Rings Quartet The Return of the King (The Lord of the Rings, #3) by J.R.R. Tolkien (audio)

Currently reading Of Blood and Bone (Chronicles of The One, #2) by Nora Roberts and almost done listening to The Two Towers (The Lord of the Rings, #2) by J.R.R. Tolkien.

I also need to read New Corpse In Town (Secret Seal Isle Mysteries, #1) by Lucy Quinn for Q author to complete ABC Author Challenge.

If I read all of the above, I still need 6 more books for Read Your Shelves/Mount TBR Challenge to get to 100. So I'm perusing my graphic novel stack to see what I bought last year. EDIT: I have read all of the graphic novels I had purchased prior to 2019. Ahhh!! I guess I'll have to listen to some of my shorter Audible books to round out my challenge! lol. Choosing these for now: The Christmas Hirelings by Mary Elizabeth Braddon Zero G by Dan Wells White Trash Zombie Apocalypse (White Trash Zombie, #3) by Diana Rowland

I'm also at this moment 10 books away from my Goodreads Challenge goal of 300 books. So if I complete all my other challenges, I will be just over 300. 🤞🤞
Oh and I also want to read The Christmas Dog by Melody Carlson this week for the Seasons of Reading Christmas Spirit Readathon!

Ok I feel overwhelmed now...lol!

Read
The Christmas Dog by Melody Carlson The Witch Doesn't Burn in This One (Women Are Some Kind of Magic, #2) by Amanda Lovelace Merry Christmas, Steve The Mermaid's Voice Returns in This One (Women Are Some Kind of Magic, #3) by Amanda Lovelace China Rich Girlfriend (Crazy Rich Asians, #2) by Kevin Kwan Of Blood and Bone (Chronicles of The One, #2) by Nora Roberts The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur New Corpse In Town (Secret Seal Isle Mysteries, #1) by Lucy Quinn The Vanishing Throne (The Falconer, #2) by Elizabeth May Rich People Problems (Crazy Rich Asians, #3) by Kevin Kwan
Listened
The Two Towers (The Lord of the Rings, #2) by J.R.R. Tolkien The Return of the King (The Lord of the Rings, #3) by J.R.R. Tolkien The Christmas Hirelings by Mary Elizabeth Braddon Zero G by Dan Wells White Trash Zombie Apocalypse (White Trash Zombie, #3) by Diana Rowland The Rise of Magicks (Chronicles of The One, #3) by Nora Roberts High Achiever The Incredible True Story of One Addict's Double Life by Tiffany Jenkins The House with a Clock in Its Walls (Lewis Barnavelt, #1) by John Bellairs Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple

Borneman , 20 pages of The Pioneers The Heroic Story of the Settlers Who Brought the American Ideal West by David McCullough (which is a library book whose hold came up unexpectedly early and is throwing off my plan to focus on my Read Your Shelves challenge) and listened to an hour of The History of the English Language by Seth Lerer today.

I didn't get too much reading done yesterday. A couple hours of The Return of the King (The Lord of the Rings, #3) by J.R.R. Tolkien and I should be able to get a few more hours in today because I'm doing some work from home and I like to listen to audiobooks while working. Listening right now! I also plan on watching all 6 Lord of the Rings movies before Christmas. I own some of them but just bought all 6 on Blu-Ray in one pack from Amazon (from AmazonSmiles! They donate a book to the We Need Diverse Books campaign for every purchase!). They're coming tomorrow.
I also read about 10% of Of Blood and Bone (Chronicles of The One, #2) by Nora Roberts .
None of China Rich Girlfriend (Crazy Rich Asians, #2) by Kevin Kwan .
I need to read The Christmas Dog by Melody Carlson today which will probably wait till tonight. lol.

Dawn Michelle | 3487 comments Okay, I am in. Maybe this will help me keep on track [though I am not hopeful! LOL]

We are reading A Redbird Christmas for book club [I started it on Friday] and so that will take me through the month. Unless I cave and just listen to the rest of it [as I am not a huge fan] and get it over with. We will see.

Finishing The Vanishing Man today [by audiobook]. I love this series so much and the narrator is just fantastic so it makes it a delight to listen to. FINISHED

Starting a NG book tomorrow as a buddy read There's A Murder Afoot - I have to "read-read" this one so it will take a couple days I am sure [as this dry weather has been playing havoc with my eyes].

I am also starting Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy: Four Women Undercover in the Civil War today. I am really looking forward to this one as it has been on my TBR list for a long time.

On 12/16 I will be starting My Name Is Red, also as a buddy read and for RAtW.

The rest of the list will depend on time [we will be having the girlies TWICE over the holidays and they totally take up all of my time {gloriously} and I find I am way too tired after they go to bed to read - I am in awe of parent's that are MY age that have littles. God love them. WOW]. Here is what is on the list:

1. The Meaning of Everything: The Story of the Oxford English Dictionary [Waiting on audiobook]

2. Westering Women - a NG book for January

3. Comic Sans Murder - because I just WANT to be done with this series [that has not be a favorite]

4. The Indifferent Stars Above: The Harrowing Saga of a Donner Party Bride

5. Nameless Queen - Another NG book for January [I had made a rule to not have anymore than 6 NG per month as I am reading BIG books next year. I broke my rule with January, in which I have NINE. Sigh.]

***6. Adding The Christmas Train because I LOVE that book!!! ;-)

Yes, NetGalley. They give Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) of books electronically and you have to review them. The more you review, the higher your percentage is, the more approvals you get! :)

Sarah B | 391 comments Thanks for answering my question. 😁 I hope you can read all of the books you will have to read! 📚

I have found ARCs but paper ones in the one free library near my apartment. I guess someone read them and gave them away..

I'm reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern right now. I'm about maybe 1/5 through the book and I'm hoping I can finish it today.

And I'm enjoying those mystery books about Stanley by Parnell Hall so i picked up 4 more if them from the library this morning when I was running errands. I find him a bit funny. He also reminds me a bit of myself.
