If I run across a copy of this when I get home, I may try to shoe-horn it in, but more than likely I'll be out of this one too
I have started - I'm reading the William Weaver translation. I was a bit taken aback by the fact that the main characters are Russian; I expected them to be Italian.I was a little worried that this book would be very depressing. After all, it's a book about WW2 written by someone who experienced the concentration camps! However, it hasn't been too bleak so far (I have only read the first 3 chapters).
I am almost done - I am finding this look at life as a Jewish partisan in Eastern Europe fascinating. I guess that I have never considered the dilemma of a Russian Jew - whether he is a Jewish Russian or a Russian Jew - before, nor the complexity of that question.
