I enjoyed it. I wasn't quite into the whole living with aliens bit as much, although interesting and gave you a lot to think about about how you would interact with a completely alien culture, and how that applies to our own human cultures interacting.
The humans part I enjoyed more, although enjoyed does seem like a weird word for it. I really enjoyed the observations of humans not being able to accept truths and clinging to other explanations. Very timely.

Haha, no worries. I agree with you. Yes it was very timely about people believing what they want to believe. I thought the relationships between the aliens and humans were weird. Not keen on that. The human dynamics were definitely more interesting. Currious how the rest of the series pans out.

I kinda agree with the aliens and humans thing. I can kinda get it, I appreciate a book exploring those ideas and pushing boundaries. I mean, what if? What if it was just me and aliens? How would that work on all levels of my life? I found it slightly odd that they needed a human for the coming of age bit (how did that work before?!?). But you know, whatever floats your boat and keeps things going.
I have no idea where the series is going to head. I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue, but it's a good book there for an option. She writes brilliantly, so at least an extremely readable book would be on my shelf.
I have the trilogy as one book, they are short, and as you say she writes well. Perfect toppler material!

Rules you will forget and need to be reminded about:
5. Books must be at least 175 pages long. More rules for audiobooks and ebooks.
6. Books may be any genre unless specified in a task. Genres will be verified by the listing on the main book page. In the case of graphic novels or books consisting of a lot of pictures, the text must be equivalent to that of a 175-page book.
7. If a task refers to the title, the subtitle or series title doesn’t count unless specified in a task.
8. If a task refers to the cover, it will be based on the cover of the issue you read. The object required on the cover needs to be prominent on the cover and easily identified.
9. If a tasks specifies a country as a setting, the book should be set in a minimum of 50% of that country unless otherwise specified.
10. Compound words/Imbedded words/Plurals: When a task requires a specific word in the title, it must match the required word as close as possible unless specifically stated in the individual task. It may not be included as a compound word or imbedded in another word. In the situation of plurals, you may add an "s" or "es", but you may not change the word to a plural form if it's different from the required word. Eg - Mice cannot be used as the plural for Mouse. If reading a book in a language other than English, the word must be a direct translation.
11. Author names: If a task requires that you match initials or specific names for the author, it's easy to figure out when the author has two names. but becomes tricky when there are 3 names or initials. If the task specifies first and last name, then we will literally go with the first name and last name listed. Eg. We would ignore the Jackson in Harriet Jackson Brown. If her name was hyphenated (Harriet Jackson-Brown), we'd go with Jackson. If her name was listed as HJ Brown, or H.J. Brown, we'd go with H Brown. In the case where there are more than one author, either author may be used.
