Marni (marnitanya) | 32 comments I have tried for Pike's Peak two years without making it. Going to try for this, and hopefully will still make it up Pike's Peak as well this year!

Welcome back! Hope that planting a flag here will boost you to a flag on Pike's Peak too.

Marni (marnitanya) | 32 comments My plan is to do the Booked2020 and find books I own to fit the prompts when possible. The books I've chosen for the first prompts are (bold books currently reading, crossed off have been completed):
1. The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo
2. She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement by Jodi Kantor
3. In Pieces by Sally Field
4. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
5. Lullaby by Jonathan Maberry
6. Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado-Pérez
7. Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators by Ronan Farrow

Carol (cquan01) Good luck!!! I am curious about that challenge. I am doing two challenges as a way to read books I own also.

Marni (marnitanya) | 32 comments Book 1 done.

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo
★★★★★

What a wonderful book. As someone who grew up in a bilingual household it means so much to me to read books where both languages are woven together.

Leslie Good luck & good reading!

Which challenges are you doing to help get through your owned books?

message 8: by Carol (new)

Carol (cquan01) I am doing the 52 Books in 52 Weeks Challenge and MMD Reading Challenge. It was fun to select books that I already owned. What about you?

Marni (marnitanya) | 32 comments Book 2 finished.

She Said Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement by Jodi Kantor
★★★★★

This book was a fantastic read about the journalism behind the stories of Weinstein. It tied in some other related stories as well. It was compelling and even uplifting, surprising to me.

I'm doing the Booked2020 challenge, and going to attempt MMD, but Booked and MountTBR take precedence.

Marni (marnitanya) | 32 comments Finished Book 3

In Pieces by Sally Field
★★★★

What a wonderful memoir. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Sally Field let me into the personal moments of her life.

Marni (marnitanya) | 32 comments Book 4 completed

Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) by Victoria Aveyard
★★★★

Aveyard paints a vivid picture of a different dystopian world. She kept my attention through the novel and I immediately downloaded the next book in the series from the library upon finishing it.

Marni (marnitanya) | 32 comments Book 5

Lullaby by Jonathan Maberry
★★★

A quick Audible Original to complete my Booked2020 finish in a day prompt. Great narration, so so story.

Thank you! I'm feeling good about my progress this year, hopefully I can make a bigger dent than I thought I was going to!

Marni (marnitanya) | 32 comments Number 6 done! Moving onto the next Mountain!

Invisible Women Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado-Pérez
★★★★★

This is a must read for everyone. It's well known we live in a patriarchal society, but just how much harder this has made things for women is overwhelming.
