I found it!!!!!! It's Weenies, by David Lubar.

The book was a collection of short stories, all very strange. Spoilers to follow.
The boy in the fishing story is eventually eaten by a sea monster. The sea monster eats the dessert last and the moral of the story is basically to quit saving things and just enjoy them.
There was one in which a girl discovers a coupon pricing machine in a garage, and at the end of the story she prints off one that says "fire sale- everything must go" and then the world burns down.
There was also one in which a child plants their vegetable garden on top of a pet graveyard, and at the end of the story, they're eating a salad, and the lettuce ripples like a fin.
Another story involved insects, in which the dad kept using a poison that killed like 99% of the bugs, but then the leftover 1% killed them all, or something.
There was one about a dad pouring new concrete in his driveway, and it was doing something bad to the trees. The tree kept getting closer and closer to the window of two girls, and they felt threatened.
I think there was also a story about a large chocolate bar on Halloween, or something.
I think it was by a man, and it's possible that there were a couple books in the series, but I know they were all short stories. If I'm right about it being more than one book, it was several collections of short stories. The stories were not connected. I read a physical copy- I think it was a paperback.
The book is NOT "Short Stories to Tell in the Dark.
Thank you!
