Not that I know of, at least not in any of the books I have read, which are Monkey Beach,Son of a Trickster and Trickster Drift
There are "Animal People" in many of Charles de Lint's books, people who turn into animals. There is a fox character in Someplace to Be Flying for sure.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll investigate.

The Pale Fox by Marcel Griaule, Germaine Dierterlen
Happiness by Aminatta Forna
Or look through this list https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/... or this list http://www.native-languages.org/legen...
Or check out posts on Teri Windling's blog (which you may have already done) https://www.terriwindling.com/blog/fo...
The post https://www.terriwindling.com/blog/20... discusses different tales and includes a list of potential reads at the end including
Here on Earth by Alice Hoffman - a contemporary take on the Reynardine/Mr. Fox theme
When Fox is a Thousand by Larissa Lai
Fox by Martin Wallen - This is non-fiction, I think, but it may contain leads on fiction
"The Fox Wife" by Ellen Steiber, a novella published in Ruby Slippers, Golden Tears
And this post https://www.terriwindling.com/blog/20... features fox poetry
My personal reading of fox tales from Africa and America have been more originals than fiction. For example, for America, see The Coyote Road: Trickster Tales and Native American Animal Stories.

Leah!
Thank you so much. Some great suggestions.
You might read this short story by A.C. Wise, The Men from Narrow Houses. It uses fox folklore, though not in traditionally folkloric ways. It's a really interesting read that's stuck with me years later:

Hopefully it is informative. It is certainly illustrated.
What it lacks, however, are book recommendations for modern takes on the fox from the African and America folklore perspectives. I'm only interested in adult fiction which takes its inspiration from the folklore, not straight re-tellings.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Has Eden Robinson written anything with foxes?
