TheTraveler1029 | 2 comments The particular book I am looking for was read quite a bit ago so the exact details listed below are murky at best. However, I will state what I can recall as accurately as I can remember. The book itself had a cover that gave the impression that it was published in or around the 80's with a primarily black cover with a light border in the upper section of the book with a round, almost fleshy thing in it. The title itself (I believe, at least) was one to three words at most. Moving on to the subject of the book, the main point that I remember is that it followed a child or group of children on a ship or station in space. The place the children resided in was controlled by a motherly artificial intelligence that took care of them. But pods containing adults were then found and my memory fails me for most of the rest. The only other thing I can remember next is that the adults had set up a sort of camp or head of operations in a forested area of the book's setting and the adults kill a child around the time a fence is mentioned. The rest has completely escaped my memory unfortunately and I am asking anyone who may be of assistance to please lend a hand. Something about the book has been stuck in my mind for quite some time and I would like to find what that may have been. Other than that, thank you very much for anyone who may hear this plea. And thank you for your time and effort.

SBC (essbeecee) | 1594 comments I just read this a few months ago (a reprint with a less creepy cover!). It sounds like Earthseed by Pamela Sargent.

TheTraveler1029 | 2 comments That is exactly it! The newer prints show a more standard cover rather than the odd and strange looking one that came with its first printing in the early 80's. Thank you so very much for reuniting me with an almost forgotten piece of when I was growing up.
