Howdy, Joana!

Glad to have you and thank you for sharing about yourself. We all can relate to the huge reading pile and most of us are guilty of tempting each other with new finds and recommendations. Poke around all you want. This is a lovely place to be with friends.

@Ceri- thanks for bringing so many lovely people into our group. You're a peach!

Yes, that's it, Sophia, I get so many tempting recommendations I want to read them all :) Thanks for having me, this really looks like the perfect place to be with friends!

Ceri | 233 comments @Ceri- thanks for bringing so many lovely people into our group. You're a peach!

Aw, thank you! I really enjoy this group so I've mentioned it to a few people who I thought would enjoy it too :) Thank you for creating the group, Sophia!

Sure thing! I'm having a good time, too.

message 307: by Anngela (new)

Anngela Schroeder-author | 2 comments I am embarrassed to say this is the first post on the site, although I've been stalking it since November. :) My name is Anngela Schroeder and I have enjoyed reading all the posts since the fall. I finally can take a breather and jump into this fun group with relish. :)

I decided in the beginning I was going to attempt the Catherine Moreland/Mr. Bennet level, and am diligently trying to get there (much to my husband's dismay at 3am with my Kindle light glowing in bed. ;) )
Can't wait to get through my TBR pile. I'm going to jump into a new thread.

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
Fantastic, Anngela!

LOL! Yes, I think we've all annoyed those around us with our reader habits.

Look forward to seeing you around. And yes, poke into any discussions you would like.

And of course, best of luck on working through your TBR pile for the challenge.

message 313: by Nicole (last edited Sep 02, 2015 01:58PM) (new)

Nicole Barton Sasser (bartonsasser) | 4 comments My name is Nicole. I am addicted to P&P... Ooo, not that type of group. Sorry ;)

Since I have already read 30 Austenesque books this year - all P&P related - I think I can make Level Five (Mr. Bennet Level: 51+ Books).

message 314: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
Hey Nicole!

Addicts to (the other type) of P&P are absolutely welcome.

This is great that you are so far along already. Jump right in and look forward to seeing you make it to Mr. Bennet by December.

message 315: by Natalia (new)

Natalia | 1 comments Hello everybody. My name is Natalia and I'm from the U.S. I am relatively new to the Austenesque genre. I tried reading Pride & Prejudice, but became too busy. I stumbled upon this challenge today and decided that there is no time like the present. With that being said, I am going to do the Caroline Bingley level and my first book will be Pride & Prejudice. I'm looking forward to the challenge and any recommendations.

message 316: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
Never too late, Natalia!

Glad to have you and hope you enjoy and finish P&P.

message 317: by Carmen8094 (new)

Carmen8094 | 38 comments Welcome Nicole and Natalia! :)

message 318: by Marina (new)

Marina | 1 comments Hi everybody,
my name is Marina and love to read and always have. I have recently discovered Jane Austen’s fanfiction and i am hooked!
P&P is my absolutely favourite but all Jane Austen’s works are just such a delight to read. I am also a big fan of Harry Potter, Agatha Christie and Ursula Le Guin type books.

message 319: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
You will definitely fit in with this crowd, Marina.

Glad you could join us. You'll probably find lots of JAFF to add to your shelves and we look forward to seeing what you get read.

message 320: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Clarkston | 3 comments Hello,
I just joined. JAFF has been a favorite genre since I discovered it a few years ago. That had to have been right on the heels of my actual reading of Jane herself. It took me until my 30's to give P&P and S&S a try, can you believe that? I rapidly read everything else of hers, then discovered my library shelves had MORE! Good gracious me. I may never emerge from a book again. I would not begin to guess how many books I have read so far. Eek! It's my guilty pleasure, and I bought a waterproof cover for my I-phone so I could sneak my kindle app into the shower with me. Sad, yes, I know. Indulged in caffeine a little too late? Yes, I have been known to stay up most of the night with a book. Anyway, glad to meet you all!

message 321: by Ceri (new)

Ceri | 233 comments Hi Nicole, glad you have found us. You made me giggle with your comment that you read in the shower, that is real commitment!

Since you've read lots of JAFF already, what would you say are your top recommendations (in case I haven't read them yet!)?

message 322: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Clarkston | 3 comments I loved Mr Darcy's refuge. I can't really put my finger on it, but it's one of my favorites, even though the author commits the unforgivable in separating Bingley and Jane. At least Jane finds a nice substitute. Another one I loved and was surprised by was Mr Darcy's Voyage. *sigh* It might have been helpful if I had kept track of all of them, but I started so long ago! I think one of my favorite newer ones was Yours Forevermore, Darcy. Very sweet.

message 323: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
Glad you could join us, Nicole! You are definitely welcome. I haven't read Mr. Darcy's Refuge yet, but I loved Mr. Darcy's Voyage. Feel free to poke around and join in the chatter.

message 324: by Ceri (new)

Ceri | 233 comments Oh Sophia, you should definitely read Mr Darcy's Refuge, I really enjoyed it. I have had loads of people recommend Mr Darcy's Voyage to me, but I haven't read it yet, though I have it on my kindle.

message 325: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
Haha, I have it too, and still need to just read it instead of letting it sit. I keep reading newer ones and need to go back for the older ones sitting there.

message 326: by Ceri (new)

Ceri | 233 comments I know, I keep telling myself I need to do a challenge to read the books I've had for a while but I never have time, what with all the newer books I read in their place ;-)

message 327: by Candy (new)

Candy | 6 comments Lol! Ceri, that's what I've been trying to do with this challenge, but I'm failing! There is just so many new books to read too!

message 328: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
Yes, I will definitely be extending this challenge for next year and force myself to read at least one older one a month no matter what new ones I pick up.

message 329: by Candy (new)

Candy | 6 comments Nice to meet you, Nicole!

message 330: by Carol (new)

Carol Perrin | 30 comments So agree with you, Monica. I don't seem to get much done during the day because I'm reading, but being able to continue in the shower would have my hot water heater working overtime!

message 331: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Clarkston | 3 comments There's going to be a run on waterproof phone covers on Amazon tomorrow! I might have to buy stock in LifeProof.

message 332: by Paige (new)

Paige | 17 comments Yay for extending the challenge next year! I also keep picking up new books and adding to my pile.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 138 comments Mr. Darcy's Refuge, Pemberley's Promise aka Darcy's Voyage and Yours Forevermore, Darcy - all favorites of mine and ones I have or will re-read time and again.

Mr. Darcy's Refuge: A Pride & Prejudice Variation

Welcome, Alexa!

It's a pleasure to have you join our group. Love the couple read of Sense and Sensibility. I have only managed to get my husband to watch the movie. ;)

Absolutely join in and tackle your book pile. Feel free to browse everyone's virtual shelves and talk books.

message 335: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 138 comments Welcome. You are lucky in your husband having an interest in something you like. My husband is totally sports oriented although he can at least name my favorite author.

message 336: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amandabookworm) Hi. I just found you through another Good Reads group I belong to. I know it's late in the year, so I'm hoping to start a reading challenge level in 2016 when the group rolls over. I am finishing up a 2015 Reading Challenge in another group, so I know that I won't be able to finish a level this year. I am looking forward to getting ideas for books and reading more of my favorite genre (historical fiction) and JAFF at that!

Yes, welcome, Amanda!

So glad that you found us. You are not too late.

Feel free to poke about in the discussions and find books for your list and jump into conversations even on the challenges. There are links to individual 'virtual' shelves that folks have added and all sorts of books, sales, and freebies are put up on the Promotion Place discussion thread.

Yes, we are planning to continue in 2016. I'll be sending out a message in December for folks to follow the link to the new group page to start it all fresh. Same challenge and discussions. So watch for it!

Oh, and you're welcome to do the Someone Else Pick It For Me read that's still open for signing up through tomorrow night. Just look it up in the bottom discussion group, Assorted and Sundry, to see if its something you want to do.

message 339: by Danine (new)

Danine I just saw your group as I was updating for another one, Miss Jane Austen's Bookshelf. I hope you will continue the challenge or create a new one for 2016, as I have quite a stack by my bedside! I was just noting that author Lisa Pliscou (Young Jane Austen) will be speaking in person at our group in San Francisco on Dec. 5. If you ever wondered about Jane Austen's childhood, this book puts you in her shoes.

Hi Danine!

Yes, we are going to continue the group in 2016. I will send a note out in December when I get the new group created.

That is fantastic that you get to meet Lisa. I had an opportunity to read her book and it was just lovely. Gave me lots of new thoughts on Jane Austen as a young girl.

Glad you could join us and hope to see you for the new challenge! Feel free to check out the group posts and participate in comments.

message 341: by Danine (new)

Danine Yea for continuing! I think the book is a great intro for people who don't know much about Jane Austen's family or social background. I'm trying to puzzle out how I include the books on my bedside. (e.g., Among The Janeites) which are already on your list.

message 342: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
Are you talking about how to make a virtual 'shelf' here on GoodReads from this list?

message 343: by Danine (new)

Danine It's the relationship between your shelf for the group, and my own reading. For instance, I see the "Among The Janeites" has already been listed by "writer..." (who has a fab selection of personal shelves btw). So I should add only something that's not already listed on your shelf?

message 344: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
That would be great. We try to only add a book once so it can be a reference list to other readers of books we thought were good. Be careful how you fill in the answers so it doesn't make it a group read. :)

message 345: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 138 comments I am definitely in for 2016 and will continue at the Mr. Bennet level. I don't keep a bookshelf...just read and post reviews. Too much time keeping up with where I am in the post and the different genres it can be shelved in, etc. But I do like reading what others are reading and how they like the book.

message 346: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
Super, Sheila or maybe that's Super Sheila! :)

So glad you're in for 2016 and for the big challenge, too. I'll probably work on our new group page over the week after Thanksgiving. Looking forward to the new challenge year.
