Philip Monds | 2 comments This follows the main character and their friend. They're opposite genders but I don't remember which is which. The friend goes to film school while the main character prefers to write. They're obsessed with this abandoned building in their home town. The main character either lived or spent their summers in a bait and tackle shop. There was a dedicated website and every couple of entries you would receive a code to go type in the website and watch a video that either the main character or the friend made. I read this sometime between 2009 and 2011. It's actually part of a series. I know there's a lot of allusions to Edgar Allan Poe's "Raven."

The Skeleton Creek series by Patrick Carman seems to match your description. The first book is Skeleton Creek.

Jennifer | 4 comments No, it was not a horror story. Set in modern day; the journalist daughter working for an internet news company where they must "dish the dirt" on people.
The girl the newsreader shouted the abuse at - I feel was his hairdresser getting him ready for a show.
