To add the book cover, the process is almost identical. The only difference is this: After you click on the "add book/author" link, click on the circle next to "cover" in the search box. Then continue as above.
To add a link to the book's author, follow the steps to create a link to the book, but select author at the top of the search box, instead of book.

(remove the *) - I just have to put that in here otherwise it would hide everything!

I quote:
This is the place, where you can help Gnod to learn about new writers. If you know a writer that is not yet included, please use the "suggest a new writer" form to the right. You dont need to make sure that your suggestion is not yet known to Gnod. Putting in writers Gnod already knows will cause no problems.
How do you use bold and fancy fonts?

Bold <*b> text<*/b> Don't use the asterisks though
Italics <*i>Text<*/i>
Don't know how to do other fonts sorry!

Once you start doing it it does become habit. The way Leafmarks & a couple of message boards I belong to do it is much easier though.

Go to MY BOOKS in the top tool bar; click that then click on the CURRENTLY READING shelf on the left of the page. You will now have the title/s you are currently reading displaying. Click on the X to the right of the title you don't want to be there. ALL GONE! Magic - "just like that"...
Who used to say that? Some British comedian on a TV show from way back I feel.

This works the same if you added a book as 'want to read' also

Ooh! that's a great tip! took me a while to get the hang of it, but I see you have to put the mouse right on the tick and it'll turn to a cross.

Try doing it the other way - the way I said. You don't have to be 'mouse-capable' - getting the mouse in the exact spot - doing it the other longer way.
It's also a good way to do it when you don't have a mouse - iPad for example.

Also your method now works too. I swear my computer has a gremlin.

I tried a delete and it didn't.
You know me and technology. Nice simple explanation please in baby words!! Thank you. :)

I tried a delet..."
When you go to your read shelf you have that book entered twice. You should be able to click on the 'edit' to the far right of the entry you want to delete, remove the text in the review box, scroll to the bottom and click the save button.
That should remove the review.
If you want to remove the extra book from your 'read' shelf go to that shelf, click the X on the far right and that will remove the book from the shelf.
I'd probably take a copy of the review before you do this just in case the duplication has been caused by some type of glitch and both books become removed. If that happens then you just need to start again, but you have your review you can just copy and paste.

I was showing one of my new writers around GR and found that under my profile there is a list of rankings (!!) and I was ranked as a librarian! I do hate these competition ranking thingies really. I read for pleasure not to out read someone else!!!
P.D.R. wrote: "Another question. How come I am down as a librarian?

Hi pdr I was hoping another librarian would swing by & answer this, but I'll give it my best shot!
I looked up your profile & you are showing up as #13 top librarian. I'm guessing this is because you have done some edits on your own books? On my profile I have Goodreads Librarian plus a ranking (i.e. top librarian) for my edits. I think generally authors can't also be librarians. Don't know what happens if a GR librarian subsequently becomes an author.
I find some of the lists (Top Reader, Top Reviewer, Top User) a bit silly. & the NZ Top Reviewer has had a bug since at least February. I started a thread in Feedback about it yesterday, suggesting they get rid of the meaningless lists so that the bug fixers have time to fix the lists people actually care about like Top Reviews. The NZ Top Reviews hasn't worked since the 24th of January, some countries haven't worked since November.
My thread https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Edit; & I do think the Top Librarian list is important. GR data base is to a large extent maintained by volunteers & this is the only recognition they get.

Maybe a question for the group, Carol.

Yes you do have to apply to be a Goodreads Librarian (I was successful on my second attempt)but authors can do limited edits on their own books. & the ranking is based on the number of edits you do. (sorry I wasn't clear on that!) Because NZ is a small country I have a ranking even though I don't do that many edits. However there are about 4 NZ Librarians who do a huge amount of work!

Edits on books? You mean when I go in and improve my blurb or add another review on my own novels and short stories?
Yes, I do that frequently. Always trying to improve. And that makes me a librarian?
What does being a librarian mean I should do that you two do?

No it means you are able to make edits on your own books. if you are a Goodreads Librarian you will have applied to become one & will have Goodreads Librarian on your profile. (If you look at my profile you see that just under the number of reviews I have done)
I tried the Librarians Manual & doing a search of discussions in the Librarians' Group to see if there is a clearer explanation but I can't find one sorry.

And who do I send a complaint to re a new GR member spamming me with offers to promote my books using illegal methods according to GR and Amazon rules?

My colleague, G. J. Berger, has his Amazon comp entry of two years ago posted up on Goodreads here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
He has now launched the completed and fully edited and rewritten novel, 'Four Nails' and wants to remove this comp entry which differs from the newly launched novel and is not the quality we give our Writer's Choice logo to. He has tried and can't find out how to remove this extract.
Who do we approach?

I'd email support AT goodreads DOT com.

We crossed over! I'd email support about that too. Because someone has it down as a "to read" I don't think a librarian can help you. Could be wrong about that though. I can certainly delete the stuff about the competition in the blurb though. Edit; I've done that.
Also they could probably explain the stuff about authors being able to do some edits better than I have done.

I'm still waiting for librarian status.
But I just added a book by Rosemary Bell Dewerse not realising she already has a book on goodreads under the name Rosemary Dewerse.
Pretty sure its the same person. Is there a way of linking the book I just added to this author or editing my addition?
Book I added: Ngā Kai-rui i te Rongopai: seven early Māori Christians / Stories retold by Rosemary Dewerse
The next time I meet her, will ask her to join GR.

happy to say I have received librarian status! very much looking forward to adding any great books I come across at the Te Wananga o Aotearoa library :)

I can't see how to vote but I can see the like button.
Goodness I would have been doing this for some of you much sooner if only I knew.

Help please. I want to remove Jacob's Ladder and its cover from my author's page and replace it with the new cover and new rewritten version, 'Jacob's Justice' but the page says I am not a librarian and cannot do so.
Could I please please have your help here, Lesley to get the page right?

Hi PDR!
You are probably best to join the Librarians Group & ask for help there.
https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
I can tell you they won't remove your existing edition as readers want to shelve the copy they own. They will do an ACE for you (alternative cover edition) & give you instructions on how to make it your main one showing.
I am a librarian but this is one of the areas I'm not comfortable with yet. The other is the awards. I can do merges now (duplicate books) so I am progressing. :)

I'm glad it's not just me! I've got a really high ranking but that's because not many of the NZ librarians do that much librarian work. & the first time I did a merge I thought I had lost someone's reviews! (I hadn't)

If PDR's book has a different ISBN that may not be an ACE. But still...better leave it to the pros! :)
A guy who got librarian status around the same time as me is now a Super Librarian. I've got over the embarrassment! :)
