That Lisa was really Willow's mother.

Lisa's strong religious beliefs (since childhood none the less), were mentioned several times for no real reason that I could see.

Finding "the truth" was a theme of the book. In the first few pages, we see that Polly is a great liar, convincing Willows guidance counselor that she hunts with a falcon, and is a great secret keeper.

Somewhere in the middle of the book I started to wonder if Lisa became pregnant, perhaps blaming the early signs on stress related to grieving her father and couldn't bear the thought of abortion. To avoid "scandal" Polly agreed to raise Willow as her own.

Was anyone else expecting that?
