Merging books

Hello,
I have had librarians merge editions before. For some reason, the number of reviews for my books goes up, then down, and I am wondering if it because multiple versions are sprouting up.
In any event, is it possible to make sure the different editions of my different books are merged.
Is this only a Librarian function, or is there something that I can do?

The counts are cached. The number of reviews is not actually changing; it just takes a couple days after a combine for everything to be properly updated.

Authors can combine their own editions, but cannot delete duplicates (if any).
