Drakeryn - That looks promising. That would combine the nomination and voting into one, looks like. We could try that for February’s book and see how we like it? We could “pre-load” the poll with the top few from the related Listopia and go from there.

Honestly it looks so simple I’m not sure why we don’t do it like that now! Is there a downside?

A thumbs down from me on the Google docs solution. I too like to see what other people are nominating so I can pick one that others are interested in. I couldn't see the result until after I submitted and even then the graph of the nominations is unreadable. The poll thing that Drakeryn proposed could work though. And keeping it in Goodreads allows for the quick links to the book info page.

Also, how can we follow the Announcements board to get notifications? I only know how to follow a discussion through the link at the bottom but that isn't present on locked posts.

All very good points. Nadine and I are working on trying Drakeryn's idea for the next monthly read selection. I'll look into the announcement thing and see what I can do. Thank you!

Hey just a note guys. I like the nomination polls a lot. But if you make it a "Book Poll" it will let us pick out of the database instead of free text.

And it puts the write in books in the bottom "This poll is about..." part as well then.

It's just a little link in the guidelines about polls on the right.
