SOLVED! YA novel: Girl in coma wakes up years later [s]

I read this book in the late 80's. It was about a girl who was shot and then wakes from a coma years later. It was all about her adjusting to her life again and dealing with the fact that she missed all those years. I feel like she missed her teenage years or something. Anyone rememeber this book?

I think so. I believe she went into the coma at age 13 and woke up at 17, but kept thinking of herself as being 13. Unfortunately, I don't recall the name of it.

Yes, that sounds right.
I want to say that her mom was killed the day she went into the coma, so she had to deal with her mom's death also.

Regan, Yes, thank you because I've never heard of this book or author and I added it to my read list also. I also added A Family Apart, the first in the series orphan train book. Rivka, Which other one(s) did you enjoy? Anybody else?

It's been a very long time. And I'm guessing that while they were exciting to a 10-12 year old, they might not be as much to an adult. But I just went through and marked the ones I believe I remember reading.

I think she also wrote The House on Hackman's Hill, but that is for younger readers. I read it when I was a kid and I remember being scared to death by it. I recently read it again now that I'm an adult and it was still a little freaky! The ending isn't great though.
