When reading about the train ride (view spoiler)
Remus Lupin has always been one of my favorite characters, though I am not quite sure why. It might be because (view spoiler)
Divination. Now that is quite a class. A lot of humbug going on there I would guess. But the thing I thought of when reading this time around was that (view spoiler)

I agree with your reading of Lupin. He's also one of my favorite characters (and I have so many in this series, siriusly !) (view spoiler)
About divinations, (view spoiler)

I have swished through the first 2 books, and finally coming to this one. It's one of my favourites in the series, so it's going to be a blast rereading it at last.

Ya know, I never thought much about Lupin - just that (view spoiler)
When it comes to seeing

I've always related to Hermione. I feel like we have a lot in common. For instance, in this chapter she's trying to persuade other students, using her logic, that Trelwaney's predictions..."

I had no recollection of Snape (view spoiler)
I am also curious as to why Harry doesn't ask Dumbledore (view spoiler)

I loved the bus too! It was a very fascinating concept for me as a kid, and I still want to take a ride in it.
Hogsmeade makes me jealous still, too. It sounds like such a wonderful, interesting little, cozy town. The film moments when they're there in the winter doesn't really help. It just looks so cozy!
It's interesting with Sirius Black (view spoiler)
Crookshanks (view spoiler)

I felt the same way when I read that section <333

Yes, Silje, they seem much older than 13 (and even in the first book, much older than 11!)
I'm really feeling bad for Hagrid. And I want a Hippogriff! I think Professor Trelwaney is a fraud, but I'm really liking Professor Lupin.

Yes. (view spoiler)

I agree! Found it hard to read with Black as the (view spoiler) I had also never heard about the theory of Crookshanks, that explains so much
Silje wrote: "Btw, have those of you that have seen the movie noticed that more or less all the boys are having a really bad hair day?=P"
I was thinking I swear Harry hardly ever has bad hair day apart from the books!
I'd love a hippogriff... they would be so cool and cute

(view spoiler) Reading this book/series is making me realise how much I enjoy this world.

Yes. Sirius is completely irrational at that point. He doesn't see that e..."
I thought so too.. maybe he was really going crazy in Azakaban and he cannot decipher the real truth until later when he came back to sanity ?
Also, he must feel responsible for the death of Harry's parents because he wasn't able to help, so maybe that's why he kept it really ambiguous ??

Yes. Sirius is completely irrational..."

Ohhh I didn't remembered all the details ! This is so true !!

I love the Maurader's Map as well.

Marge - (view spoiler)
The Knight bus - I can safely say I would never want to ride it.
Harry's time at Diagon Alley - (view spoiler)

I’m through Chapter 10
I thought Uncle Vernon was bad...(view spoiler)
Like others, I also enjoyed the night bus scene...(view spoiler)
I agree with Silje, Professor Lupin is much more of a Professor to the students than other DAtDA professors have been. He relates to them well.

Lupin was and always has been my favourite professor. One thing I want to say is (view spoiler)

[spoilers removed] Reading this book/series is making me realise how much I enjoy this world."
I've finished Chapter 13...
The map is awesome!!! And you've got to love Fred and George for passing it on!
This book has a more depressing feel to it - I guess because of the Dementors? Almost everyone is grouchy and Harry is not having a fun year so far.
I'm also wondering what's going on with Hermione and Professor Lupin's illness...can't wait to find out!

The map is awesome!!! And you've got to love Fred and George for passing it on!"
The Maurader's Map is one of my favorite parts of this book. I saw a t-shirt once that had "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good" on it. I would have bought one if they had my size.

Lupin is definitely my all-time favorite professor. If I could pick one class at Hogwarts to attend, it would be DADA taught by Lupin.

I would have liked a class thought by Dumbledore !! But since it is not anymore possible.. I might go with a class with McGonagall :) I would love to be an animagi and become a dog ! hihi

I agree with Marge; (view spoiler)
I also loved Harry's holiday in Diagon Alley. It's always so much fun learning about ordinary wizardry life.
I also like that this book starts to establish the plot for real, and is the stepping stone towards more darker, more mature storylines and writing.
Professor Lupin is my favourite professor beside McGonagall. I just love her and how fierce she is. She provides so much snark, so much feels and emotions, and under her stern ways, you can really see how much she loves her students and her job. (view spoiler)
Sirius Black's (view spoiler)
Lupins' life too is so sad to hear about. (view spoiler)
The owl (view spoiler)

Prof Lupin is a 'true' mentor to Harry...it's so great that he pays special attention to him.
I love the description of the stores at Honeydukes...you don't get this when you see a movie...how creative!

I would love to visit a Honeydukes store. The amount of detail in the books is amazing.

CHAPTERS 1-5
the fact that you apparently have to clip the twigs on your broomstick is kind of weird to me. do they grow or do you just keep clipping them til your broom is ridiculously small and then you have to get a new one?
i really kind of hate how every time the dursleys are mentioned she makes sure to remind how fat they are because it's like she's reinforcing fat = mean / lazy / whatever. i'm not saying that was her intention at all but it definitely comes across that way when every sentence is like 'dudley was horrible and mean to harry and also he had five chins and his ass drooped over the sides of his seat'
i love how sarcastic harry is with the dursley's and how his first thought is to try to blackmail them into signing his permission slip lol
as with previous [and future] books (view spoiler)
loving the foreshadowing with (view spoiler)
as the semi-new proud owner of a truly evil cat from hell i appreciate crookshanks all the more on this re-read lol
i really love this book, it's definitely where the series takes off for me. also (view spoiler) are possibly my two favorite characters in the entire series. does anyone remember the shoebox project fanfic? good times.

it's very lucky for hermione that (view spoiler)
SPOILERS FOR FUTURE BOOKS: it still completely baffles me that (view spoiler)

LOL. Love those pictures. Re: Snape and Sirius (view spoiler)

i love when professor mcgonagall just totally drags professor trelawney at the christmas feast lol. even though i feel like someone once actually made a list of all trelawney's predictions and they all actually turned out to be true, although sometimes in weird ways.
re: hermione's homework problem (view spoiler)
also i'm kind of surprised there are not more pet related incidents at hogwarts. i mean you've got owls, cats, and frogs, and apparently ron is allowed to have a rat for some reason. but owls and cats are both going to eat frogs [and rats] and honestly i wouldn't be surprised if the owls and cats got in fights with each other as well.
also re: crookshanks specifically (view spoiler)
i love the marauder's map so much, the things it says when snape tries to open it make me laugh more than i probably should
re: the quidditch match: i know we've already established that JKR did not think her math through but she says that 3/4th of the crowd was supporting gryffindor and then 200 people were on the slytherin end and i'm like HOW!!! HOW! 10 people per year in each house = 70 per house altogether and there aren't enough teachers to more than double the amount of people showing up to a quidditch game! sorry, i know it doesn't matter but i think it brings out my inner hermione and makes my eye twitch.

That was a good point, them not understanding the tech. But they haven't really tried either, have they? I get the feeling that the wizarding world looks down upon muggles in general, at least in some ways, since they can't do magic and all. Then again technology is kind of magical in its own way, but I suppose they don't see that=P
