So, I am super behind in reading this but....(BIG spoilers for whole series ahead)

(view spoiler)[I'm right at the part where they're on the train, and every little thing is starting to make sense in the bigger story. I love that the Sneakoscope goes off and the Rowling mentions Scabbers in such an offhand way. And I love our first impression of Lupin...really like he's a hobo or something.

I love Lupin tons, he was probably my favorite character after Fred Weasley. So yeah....of course all my favorite characters kicked it. lol (hide spoiler)]

Okay, started to catch up and I'm on pg. 360...and I'm just understanding (spoilers for series ahead) (view spoiler)[ the reason Snape is so mad at Black at the time. He thinks he killed Lily...it's why he screams at Hermione and how he hoped to one day catch Black. It's amazing...you really understand his anger and hatred all throughout the books after you've read the whole series. Even though he's mean to Harry sometimes, you really get that he was in love with his mother. It's kind of crazy. (hide spoiler)]

I finished today and I have to say the end on audio felt a bit dragged out compared to when I first read the book. I'm not sure if it's the audio, or just because I knew what was happening next.(view spoiler)[ The first time I read this I was so hoping that Harry's dad had been the one with the Petronas. It was good to do the re-read knowing what happened in that scene.
One of the things I found adorable is how chocolate is given in the hospital when you've had interactions with a dementor. Talk about a kid's dream medicine! JKR has such great insight to the age and their behaviours. Hermoine is the absolute voice of reason, whereas Ron and Harry act like typical 13 year old boys (e.g. Harry wanting to change the events in the past)

I finished the first 7 chapters and here are my thoughts so far.

(view spoiler)[I really like how this one started with Harry getting his first birthday cards and presents. That was a very sweet moment. I also enjoyed reading about Harry exploring Diagonally on his own and actually feeling how it is to actually have a summer vacation. Lupin is awesome and I loved reading about his first lesson with the Boggart. (hide spoiler)]

I love the beginning of Chapter 4, where (view spoiler)[ Harry gets to stay at the Leaky Cauldron and hang out all day a Diagon Alley. That just sounds like heaven to me. Also, rereading this has totally reawakened my mad crush on Professor Lupin. I love the part on the train where he's sleeping and then makes the dementor go away, and also the lesson with the Boggart. (hide spoiler)]

I just finished the book and I have to say that this is the book where it all changed for me. When it felt like everyone had matured. There's so many ties in this book to the future books both with (view spoiler)[the prophecy from Trelawney and Snape's resentment towards Sirius and Lupin, Dumbledore speaking about how the dead never leaves us in the last chapter, because Harry thought he'd seen his father. Here I'm thinking about the Deathly Hallows, and that he might already then be referring to the stone. (hide spoiler)] This was again a 5 star book for me

Chapter 5~ (view spoiler)[The Dementors gave me the willies...they are the scariest creatures. I like the idea of Chocolate of curing what ails you ~ definitely works for me. Chapter 6~ (view spoiler)[I think it would be neat to have animated paintings. I thought when Prof Trelawney said "books can tqake you only so far in this field" that Hermione wouldnt be too hear that but I always felt that Prof Trelawney was a flake. See, I am not alone in this feeling, Hermione & Prof McGonical are in my way of thinking too lol. A book that you have to rub a forefinger down its spine to get it to open, I love books but Im not sure I would want one. I want a Buckbeak. I really loved Norbert but a Buckbeak would be cool. Almost like a Push Me Pull You from Dr Doolittle (of course that was my favorite movie when I was a little girl) What part of don't be rude to the Hippogriff did Malfoy not understand? Idiot boy, he got just what he deserved. Buckbeak should have bitten his head off. (hide spoiler)]

Professor McGonical I think was very close to revealing why Sirius Black is so important to Harry's past life when Harry's parents were still living. Ut oh, Harry is late to class to find that Prof Snape is substituting for Prof Lupin. At least Harry is able to play quidditch with every thing going on so glad Harry was able to get back to some normalcy. ooo that blasted whomping willow tree destroyed Harry's nimbus 2000 so much for that broom...:( (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 10~ (view spoiler)[Jenny's crush on Harry really starts to show in this book. The characters are starting to develop more between each other. Outside Prof Dumbledore, I have always felt that Prof Lupin was the only other person who gave Harry any direction in life. Lupin would have meaningful conversations with Harry - I sort of thought of him as an Uncle to Harry. Fred & George are 2 of favorites from the series. I do believe that they think of Harry as a brother. I would have loved to have had a Marauders Map when I was young, then my mother would never know everything she thought she knew lol...Harry in Hogsmeade, many secrets are revealed in this chapter especially the relationship between Sirius Black & Harry's Father. Wow, thought this chapter was the most enlightening of them all so far. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 11~ (view spoiler)[Wow, a firebolt...Harry has a received a very expensive gift from a secret admirer. Of course we all know that it's Sirius Black who gave Harry the firebolt but its fun to try & figure it out with Harry & Ron. Sometimes I would like to smack them both up side the head & point out to them that when Ron gave him the sneakascope that he told Harry that whenever someone up to no good was about the sneakascope would go all crazy...have they noticed that the thing goes crazy whenever Scabbers & Crookshanks are around..geez how dense could they both be lol What the devil was Hermione thinking when she went to Professor McGonical about the firebolt. This is not going to bode well for the friends or their friendship. ... (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 12~ (view spoiler)[Well this chapter is just full of surprises. Harry & Lupin have become quite the friends haven't they...Harry has certainly become quite the celebrity over the Firebolt. Here is where Harry finally confronts Sirius Black about the murder of his parents. But what Harry learns is not what any of us expected. Sirius is innocent. At least the cat knew all along.
