The only place I've seen this model at work is in manga magazines [where there is still an anthology of issues], or comic books

I like the idea of series books and I have created a series from one of my upcoming publications "The Salvation of Satan." I have also created some short publications I call Kindle Chapbooks after the old chapbook style. My style of writing is to write connected short stories in creating my books. Each chapter--quite often--can stand alone as a small short story. My work is literary fiction. Haven't sold any of the shorts yet, but that is a marketing issue on my part. Have to write, folks. Writing keeps me alive and kicking.
I understand. I am in the process of assembling a number of short stories based on the life of my best friend who died in Nam back in 65. My memory isn't accurate enough to call the stories 'nonfiction.'They are fiction, but based on remembered incidents and settings. It will still still be fiction, although in my mind. . . they represent the 'truth.' I have sold a few of the chapters to on-line sites. And had some uplifting comments. Hope to have the book done next year.

Does anyone in any genre have any experience with these models where customers pay for each chapter or each short story individually? What are your thoughts about it, compared to publishing and selling whole books at a time?
