Do you think The Joy Luck Club would count for this prompt? It goes back and forth between China and the US? If not, I'll probably use 100 Years of Solitude, which I've been meaning to read since for-freaking-ever!

Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is based on a murder that took place in Colombia. It was an excellent book, and it was short so it was easy to knock out in one afternoon!
Call of the Wild is set in Canada. A classic, but with the movie coming out there may be more interest.
I Read Kingdom of the Blind by Louise Penny, set in Canada (Quebec). Would also work for a book featuring one of the 7 deadly sins.
Just found that Amazon is promoting "World Book Day" and is providing nine books from around the world available for free download. Looks like the promotion ends around April 24. One book is set in China (Life) and one in Cuba (The Price of Paradise). I downloaded both for this prompt.
I read The Khmer Rouge by Charles River Editors. Very informative. I want to read someone’s actual account of going thru it.
Finished A Rule Against Murder
by Louise Penny#4 in the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series. My Review:

I ended up reading The Old Man and the Sea, which I found on the list and have been meaning to read this.

Ooh, I really wanted to read Behold the Dreamers, but when I read the synopsis, it sounded like it was set in New York, even though the characters were from Cameroon. Do significant parts of the book take place in Cameroon?
Ooh, I really wanted to read Behold the Dreamers, but when I read the synopsis, it sounded like it was set in New York, even though the characters were from Cameroon. Do significant parts of the book take place in Cameroon? My memory is that most of the book takes place in NY with a brief section in Cameroon. But my memory is definitely not perfect!
Anyone planning on using The Last Train To Key West in reference of the family coming from Cuba? I have not read this yet, but I have read the other books in the series and a portion of the book takes place in Cuba.
Taaqtumi: An Anthology of Arctic Horror Stories100 stars if I could give it. My favourite book of the year so far. Not so much horror to me, as atmospheric. Profound allegories, sharing of our First Nations cultural teachings, and what goes wrong when humans forget what our ancestors taught us.There is a glossary in the back of Inuktitut words used, which led me to a site for learning Inuit language. Interesting that the words are similar , sometimes to my mother tongue. Maybe our nation's language is linguistically related.
Set in arctic Canada, this just may be the most beautiful book I've read in the last 5 years or so.
I read "Station Eleven" by Emily St. John Mandel. it's set in both the United States and Canada. Check out my full review: https://www.jennandtoniclife.com/post...
I read In the Shadow of the Banyan, which is set in Cambodia. It's a sad read, but very well done. I'm glad I read it.
I read A Mind Spread Out on the Ground by Alicia Elliott, which is primarily set in Canada. (Pick this up if you're looking for more indigenous authors!)
This one annoys me a bit - because I have read several books by Kathy Reichs, but none of the ones I read this year are set in Canada! All in North Carolina. You wouldn't think it possible, almost...
I finally got around to reading Anne of Green Gables by L.M. MontgomeryI can't believe I hadn't read this book before now. It is so stinking cute!
Hey! So I just started woman on the edge cause it’s written by a Canadian author so naturally I thought “oh this will take place in Canada!” (Where I live). Nope. It takes place in Chicago and now I’m into it and it’s my LAST FRIGGEN PROMPT🤦🏼♀️ I hate this prompt I just wanted a good Canadian thriller - Is that too much to ask!???!!
