25 - A book with only words on the cover, no images or graphics

and not just in public domain ones like the ones above, but they tend to show up first.

I agree, that's a graphic behind the words. I wouldn't count it either. However, I read the book - and it is awesome! I'm not sure it was AS good as Dark Matter, but what is? I loved the premise of this book, and loved the ride while reading it! Enjoy it!

I am linking a photo from the internet. There are no graphics outside of the actual letters, so it depends on if you count the pictures on the letters themselves.

These are pretty hard to find outside of some classics. Cover designers want to grab your attention or inform you in some way of the content or tone of the story.

Maybe one of those "blind date with a book" library specials could work. They are generally wrapped in plain paper with just a description of some sort on the front.

My library has an Agatha Christie collection that has every book with a black cover with the title and author's name on it. The only thing that would disqualify those for sticklers is a silhouette of the author's face on the front.

Sometimes cover designers grab our attention with a stark cover. Take a look at our Listopia, we've got over 200 books on the list, most of them quite modern.

Ah, that makes sense if you perceive this as a digit (#8?). But it's a symbol for infinity, not a number. So, I guess that's a bit of a nuanced difference. Regardless, I think we are not here to police each other's choices. :) If someone wants to consider it text, I say go for it!

IMO, the infinity symbol still counts as a number/letter. Just like "3" is a symbol representing the number three, the infinity symbol represents infinity.

But I probably wouldn't count Recursion because of the maze pattern in the infinity symbol. To me, it crosses the line between "fancy typography" and "graphics in the text."

Yes, it counts. Two Boys Kissing has many covers, but there's one with only text.
