Colleen (nightoleander) | 1106 comments I just stumbled upon a Tudor podcast so of course I thought of you all. I know there are a lot of audiobooks and podcasts out there which I think is perfect for those times it may not be convienient to hold and read a book.

Either go to itunes store and type in "Tudorcast" or go directly to the website:
http://tudorhistory.org/podcast/

The best part is the podcast is free to subscribe to, it's like getting free books!

Others I have found via itunes that look interesting:

The CBC Tudorcast (explores the "fact behind the fiction" such as what they really would have eaten in Henry VIII's court)

Henry VIII (seems to be an HF audiobook)

Thalia | 99 comments There are a pile of podcasts to do with Henry VIII by various experts and authors through the British Library (in conjunction with the recent exhibit they had)

www.bl.uk/whatson/podcasts/exhibition...

You can listen to them on the site or download to your MP3 player.

Thalia | 99 comments Also if you scan through BBC History magazine (Particularily April 2009) there are a number of podcasts dealing with Tudor themes.

www.bbchistorymagazine.com/podcasts

These ones usually have two "stories" from the magazine per podcast and two podcasts per issue of magazine. One story might be Tudor, the other half about Flying Aces or such.

Colleen (nightoleander) | 1106 comments Your welcome Jennifer!

Thalia, sweet just the kinds of posts I was hoping for :)

Aly (Alygator) | 854 comments Thanks Colleen and Thalia!! I went onto Itunes and subscribed to the podcasts as soon as I read the thread!!

Colleen (nightoleander) | 1106 comments I knew someone besides me would appreciate Tudor podcasts; you are more than welcome Aly!

Thalia | 99 comments You're welcome! I love them, they all differ in length so it's versatile listening. The British library ones are a good partner with the exhibition catalogue as they discuss many of the items in the exhibit. I think I've got a dozen podcsts on my iPod and I listen to them all the time, over and over.

Thalia | 99 comments There's a new podcast at BBC History mag called "Virgin Queen to Vindictive Queen" that accompanies an article of the same name about Elizabeth I. Also in the September issue of the magazine (but no podcast) are articles:
"A Tudor mariner's epic exploits"
"The Tudors: This time it's political" (about the show)
Next month will feature an article on Henry V which we all know is Henry VIII's idol.

Katherine Totten (katherine42) Border's has a 2010 calendar based on Showtime's The Tudors. Wonderful photos.

message 12: by Connie (new)

Connie (boleynfan) | 41 comments Very cool. I know what calendar I want this year. All the eye candy of The Tudors without the horrid history.

Colleen (nightoleander) | 1106 comments Thanks for that Katherine, my wall will be beautifully adorned next year. :)

Another good site to check out:

http://www.audible.com/adbl/site/home...

Kinda looks like a digital bookstore to me but it seems cheaper than itunes audibooks.

message 14: by Tina (new)

Tina I used audible for the two years I had to commute to another city to work and loved it!

BTW, thanks for the podcast links!

Aly (Alygator) | 854 comments I get a lot of my audio books from Audible. They rock!! I got the Autobiography of Henry VIII for a lot cheaper than I had found anywhere else.
