Jez (helloimjez) | 5 comments As I remember, the book was about someone (can't remember their gender, but I think they were a child) who receives a package from a man and begins to see two creatures. The person then realizes having the package is bad, and tries desperately to get it back to the man, along with the two creatures who they befriend. I believe one of the creatures was red and the other blue, but again I could be wrong.

I think the cover had a dark blue or purple background, with a parcel on the front.

My mum read this to me as a child and I've been desperately trying to remember the name of it!

How many years ago did you read this?
Has the tone funny, scary, mysterious, etc?

I believe it was a chapter book, and I think I was between the ages of 8-11. I would say it was mostly mysterious, a bit of fantasy maybe, and there may have been a few little funny bits.

A part of me feels like the title had a word like "messenger" or "package" in it, something like that, anyway.

Hope this helps.

I just realized that it wasn't when I was 10/11, so I was probably 8/9 which was back in 2003/2004.

Martin | 29 comments Sounds kind of like I Am The Messenger but with some of the details altered. It was originally released as The Messenger in Australia but title was changed for U.S. Although I wouldnt have thought of this as a kid's book, apparently it received a childrens award in Australia. Go figure. Like I said, your description is very familiar since it is very close to the plot, but has altered details. Maybe your mom changed some of the details to make it kid friendly, because I remember there are curse words but Idk your upbringing, so maybe she didnt. I remember the two people who went and met the protagonist didn't want him to know their names, so they gave him fake names. Maybe they were blue and red(I'm not sure) and you remembered it that way. I wouldnt normally mention a book that is obviously not the one described, but your description reminded me so much of this book. Its one of my favorites. And very funny
I Am the Messenger
