W | 34 comments Do you pack them in boxes, and put them somwehere out of sight,or do you have bookshelves to put them on ? I like to keep the ones I enjoy, within easy reach on shelves, even if they take up a lot of space.

Lisa Malmquist | 160 comments I keep a rare favorite on the bookshelf but that adds up to one or two a year. The rest go to the used bookstore.

Dana-Adriana B. (adrianadaniela) I keep all my books on bookshelves. The books I read and did not like I donate to rural libraries.

Kandice | 2061 comments I have four walls in my house that are book cases, floor to ceiling. I store a LOT of my books there, but I also have totes of comics and collections (Far Side, Bloom County, etc.) in our attic. I shelve my books by author in most cases, but have a collection of old, slip cased classics that are shelved for aesthetics, instead of any real rhyme or reason. I also keep my very special books on one special set of shelves. Signed, inscribed, hand lettered, illustrated, things like that.

W | 34 comments That's impressive,Kandice.So you never dispose off any books ?

Kerry Donovan (kerrydonovan) | 97 comments Before becoming a full time author, I was (amongst other things), a furniture designer/maker. In my life, I've built so many bookcases I've lost count. Even built a few for my current stone cottage in Brittany! :)

Mostly buy ebooks these days, since I've run out of room for more bookshelves. :)

W | 34 comments I find it hard to throw books away,even ones I don't like.That makes space a problem.

But as I now also read a whole lot of e books,I'm glad I don't need storage for them.Would have needed an extra couple of rooms for all the e books I've read.

James Best (jamesbest) | 121 comments The novels that my wife and I read and really enjoy, we collect in hardcover first edition (or at least quality hardcover editions) and keep on our basement bookshelves. I think we have about 1000 volumes right now.

My wife also keeps select, hard-to-find paperback science fiction and mystery novels in short, clear, plastic tubs that slide under our bed. That way if she gets the itch to re-read them they are close at hand.

The ones that don't make the cut as being worth keeping around are traded in at our local used bookstores. And neither one of us are into e-books or audiobooks.
