I am trying to remember what this crazy book I had as a kid was. It was a picture book but the drawings were pretty crazy and the premise was dark. I remember it being about Mexican jumping beans they used to power a tractor or a truck and using fireflys in mason jars as lights. The second half of the book was about con artists I think? And a fake murder and was super dark and creepy. The main characters were children I believe. Written in the 70s?
Anyone have any clue?
