It's kind of weir..."I've seen my first or last name used in books as a character but never together. There was an actress with the same name, but she didn't have a very big career...
My name is in the book too, they all want to kill me. :(Humor aside, it is weird reading about all the andys they want to kill. Kept taking me out of the story as I processed it.

"According to Wikipedia, it's because Ridley Scott wanted to avoid the audience bringing any of their preconceptions to terms like "androids" or "robots".
My first name is common enough but I seriously doubt I will EVER see my last name in a book unless I take a sharpie into a bookstore...
If I ever see my nephew's name in a book, I'll understand it (his name is pronounced, I kid you not, "automatic pilot"). So if I were to see my name I'd expect that they knew me or my family. But it would be odd to see both names spelled correctly. Lots of KristEn's, seems to be fewer KristIn's.
I occasionally come across characters called Ruth in stories, but not very often, so it always makes me pause. As for my sirname...well, where I am from Ashworth is VERY common and there are various pubs, valleys and, of course, other people, with the same name. But sometimes people from other parts of England, particularly in the south, will say hear it and say 'ooooh, that's unusual' to which I generally respond 'no, nope, it really isn't.' So I think I'll only see my full name in a book if it is by a local author. :P

I think this is all because my name is common/pedestrian enough that it can show up as a random person in a novel, but that it hardly ever does, so it's pretty bizarre when it does.
And then you add some Dickian reality-questioning to it, and I don't even know anymore...
(For extra DADOES-goodness, "Andy" can be a nickname for my middle name.)
