ABANDONED. Sci Fi YA Short Story about people at a specific age being put to sleep

This was a short story I read several years ago. The plot was about a young girl was about to go somewhere that all children in her world at her age go, but her brother manages to send her a message explaining the truth and how to stay awake when they try to put you to sleep. One other thing that may help was that there was also a Minecraft adventure map based on this short story. I believe the cover of the book was blue and black with the girls face on it.

What year (approx.) did you read this story? Was it in a collection of other short stories?

No it was literal as in like cryosleep. It was a stand alone short story and it was probably written about 2011-2014 range.

Well funny enough, when I was younger I spent all too much time watching Minecraft youtubers, and one of them played a minecraft map based on this story. I think the map creator collaborated with the author of the story. That's where I heard about it first. The map contained excerpts of the story but I read it on a Kindle Fire.
