Alright, so the main character was a girl with red hair. She lived with her older sister on the outskirts of their town (they were kicked out of the main town by I think their father, can't remember why) and I think they had cows. They get supplies from the town from their aunty like once a month? Details of the book are fuzzy. The red-haired girl meets this red creature (fox?) and travels out of the outskirts of town. She meets these marsh people, and chooses a story teller to mentor her. The story teller (a lady - marsh lady?) tells her many stories. They go to the hub, which is like the centre of all the worlds. At the end of the book the girl realises she is the price to be paid or something like that. I remember one of the stories the storyteller told the main character somewhere in the book was about this man's heart being trapped in a dog, and when he went to battle the giant outside his castle, he would never die because his heart was in his dog. Then, his dog died and he died later on. This sounds like a really weird book haha.

I read this book I think 4-5 years ago. It was a novel published in English I found in the library. I think the cover image had the main character and the red fox creature. Can't remember much else.
