Fantasy/science fiction - humans are terrorized by mutant pigs

Might've been written in late 90s or early 2000's...

I didn't get far enough to learn who the main characters were but in the first couple of pages a family is attached in their home by what I recall to be mutant pig soldiers. I vaguely remember they attacked the family in their home with modern weapons (guns). The details were pretty gory. For example the author even described the stink of excrement in the air after one of the attackers killed a victim.

I vaguely remember the cover having a mutant pig on the cover (pig head, humanoid body). Sorry I don't have more info, I was intrigued after a couple of pages but put it down and neglected to pick it back up again.

Thanks! This seems so close but it wasn't a graphic novel. I'm definitely going to check this one out though. Seems interesting and the art looks pretty good!
