Emily | 17486 comments If the author's first or last name is hyphenated on the book cover, does the author profile name have to be hyphenated? Their Goodreads Author name is not, but some of their book covers show the hyphen.

Nay (4ukcats) | 530 comments I'd love to know this as well. Some authors have tiny differences in different covers.

For an author who has not claimed any version of their profile, and who has both James Smith Smythe and James Smith-Smythe on different covers, I would put all the books under James Smith-Smythe. However, if they have claimed one, I would go with the version they have claimed.

This is similar to how we handle names with accented letters
