One of my favorite parts was when Harry and Dumbledore were talking about the sorting hat and Dumbledore talks to him about choices!

I think Dobby is cute also. He is always trying to "save" Harry and I think that is just so sweet.

I think a Deathday party would be fun too - if you could bring your own food! I do think it was great that our 3 heroes went to the party since they had such a fun party they had to ..."
Definitely, a man that loves his cat can't be too bad!!

Overall, I loved this book just as much as the first one. I can truly understand why there are so many fans of this series and I am not very far into it yet. I am looking forward to reading more.

I think Prisoner of Azkaban is when you can say the series isn't just a children's book. While the first two have a darker tone, Prisoner of Azkaban really has darker themes throughout with (view spoiler)

I completely agree that book 3 is the turning point from children's book to something more mature. The whole idea of Azkaban is more adult than I would expect for a children's book.

Yes I am enjoying it! My husband has always wanted me to read them so I finally am :)

I love Dobby too!! I am hoping to see more of him as I progress with the series. I could do with less of the Dursleys as well. I agree that the author did a great job writing such detestable characters. We love to hate them, don't we! LOL!

My hubby always tells me that if it causes that much of a reaction (the hatred of a character), then the writer did a good job!
Dobby is beyond lovable. You might see him again but I won't give anything away :)

I might be one of a kind...but Dobby freaked me out when I first read the books as a kid!!!

I am really glad. I am sure I will catch up on your series progress soon.

So I started the audio after midnight on Sunday, June 10th. Again, I planned to pick the hardcover back up and read along once I caught up in the audio, but I soon abandoned the book in favor of finishing the audio.
Once I finished the audio (I marked it read on June 10th for a reason you can read about in my review), I resumed my reading of the hardcover and finished it on Monday, June 11th.
A rather funny thing happened when I continued in the book after completing the audio. I came across a scene with Dobby in it and, not being a fan of his, I was all, "Dobby, again?! WHYYYYY?!?!?!" But then I remembered I was reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, while I had finished Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Same book, different format. ;-)
I really love Jim Dale's performance of this second book. It was just as good as the first. I laughed in a couple of places in the beginning, and I cried in a couple of places in the end. (I did the same when I read the hardcover, too.) :-)
I don't remember what made me laugh this time through this book, but I strongly suspect that it was something in "The Burrow" chapter (Chapter Three) and/or around that chapter. :-) I cried twice in the end, once when (view spoiler) in Chapter Seventeen, "The Heir of Slytherin," and again in Chapter Eighteen, "Dobby's Reward," when (view spoiler) .
I might actually have cried THREE times, as when I was double-checking the chapter names and numbers, I reread a part of the final chapter, and the closing lines put tears in my eyes (again?). :-)
So I really love this book. And that's REALLY saying something, because I don't particularly like Dobby, I didn't like Lockhart, and the scenes involving the spiders and acromantulas are my least favorite scenes in this whole series. *shudder*
But despite all of the above, I still always find this book worthy of the full five stars. :-)
Some words on the movie, which I watched yesterday, June 12th. (I started it at sometime after 3:00p and finished it at somewhere around 6:00p, thankfully while it was still daylight outside.) :-)
I know they can't put EVERYTHING from the books into the movies, but this book's omissions in the adaptation. . . I did not like that they cut out the scene of (view spoiler) I also didn't like that they cut the part where Dumbledore (view spoiler) :-(
And was it just me, or were the scenes involving the acromantulas extended in the movie? I don't remember them (view spoiler) Did that happen in the book?
But I was able to watch this second movie! It was only my second time through it. (I'd seen the first movie half a dozen or so times, years ago, but only watched the second movie when I had my Dad with me, so he could tell me when it was safe to uncover my eyes.) :-)
I was able to watch it yesterday thanks to my blocking of the TV screen with the remote for the DVD player. I left just enough visibility to see the captions, which I realized I didn't need to do because I could hear what was going on. So I did get a couple glimpses of the giant sp-sp-spiders as that scene dragged on. :-/
(I am MASSIVELY afraid of spiders, in case it's not obvious.)
Incidentally, I CAN watch The Hobbit movies, with their spider scenes. They don't give me nightmares because no one in the book or movie is afraid of them. So I can watch and remain calm.
But in this second Harry Potter movie, Ron's fear triggers my fear and I canNOT watch. :-(
Even with the very annoying omissions and rearranging of things from the book in its movie adaptation, the film was still pretty excellently done. I really enjoyed it, and I'm glad to know that I can watch it on my own, so I don't have to wait another ten or more years before watching the Harry Potter films again. :-)

Oh! And I forgot to tell you that I'm from Team Tom Riddle and this is the book where we meet Tom Riddle! :-)

The birthday cake scene always makes me cringe. Stephen Fry does Dobby's voice quite well

Lockhart is bad. I don't think anyone actually learns anything in DADA in this book. Poor things. At least it gets better for them in 3rd year!

No, it's my 2nd time BUT I have a terrible memory!! I mean awful and I read this book in May 2014. Also, I have NO idea how to make it show that I'm reading/have read it twice without knocking out my other book read. For the first book I edited my review and added a 2nd reading but I saw nowhere to rate it and it doesn't show in my count for this year's goal either. So neither does this book.

Just as I thought, I love this book just as much this time as I did four years ago.

Four years is quite a long time. I'm sure I would have forgotten things if I hadn't read and watched the books multiple times.
I think you have to have read the same edition of the book. I can't see your book so I can't help! I'm struggling to put the paperback version I read in the past to be the same as the audiobook version I listened to. So, I'll have duplicates of all the H.P. books when I'm done. Bit annoying.
But, if you've got the same edition, all you'll need to do is edit, and 'add a date'. Might not help you though Vicky!
