Vicki Willis Yay Brenda! Welcome.
We are very casual. Everyone reads at their own pace and then post thoughts and comments here with spoiler tags.
My husband and boys are going to "man camp" this weekend so I am hoping to have lots of reading time!

Vicki Willis Never have I ever been stuck in an elevator.

Never have I ever... jumped out of an airplane.

message 15: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments Vicki & Perri, I am almost finished with Dark Saturday. By tonight or tomorrow morning I will be starting to read Never Have I Ever.

Now, I must go to the kitchen and start making some hot wings before I have a riot on my hands.

message 16: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments I have never jumped out of an airplane either... at least not while it's up in the air haha.

Haven't had time to read any more of the book but (view spoiler)

How do you make your wings? They must be good to be able to prevent a riot!

I have tried out a trumpet, but it tasted weird and I didn't like it.
Never have I ever... participated IN a riot.

Vicki, I dredge them in flour and Frank's hot sauce then place them in 450 degree oven to crisp up. I turn them about every 10 minutes until done. I serve them with celery sticks and blue cheese dressing. I have fried them in the past, but this method is faster and less messy.

I don't believe I would like a trumpet either.

message 20: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis I have finished Chapter 1 and already it has set a tone. I remember those days of having young children and that rare night out!
(view spoiler)
These books always ratchet up the tension. Hope it continues as strong.

message 21: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments Finished ch2 yep that was pretty bad. I'm surprised we found out so quickly!

Abt Perri's spoiler - end of chapter.2
Yes, makes me wonder (view spoiler)

message 24: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 2434 comments I tried to read this book maybe a month ago, and I couldn’t get into it. I didn’t realize this when I saw Vicki’s post, so here I am giving the book a second chance. I’ve never participated in an “in person” book club or had a large social network with women, so I had trouble relating to that aspect. I now see the book is more than that.

I’ve finished Chapter 4. Up to this point, I wonder why Amy has such strong loyalty and dedication to Char. I get “best friends,” but it feels over the top. I also wonder who Roux is and what does she know. I still can’t relate to these women, except for maybe Amy and Char. Amy hints there’s more history to feel guilty about; she must have really been in a deep dark place before Davis and Madison came along.

message 25: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments Finished ch 3 wait. so there's more bad things?! (view spoiler)

I've belonged to several irl book clubs and it's a whole other dynamic. One was work place gals and it was nice to see them outside of that environment, beside going out to restaurants. The one I'm in now is just random people made up of men, women, different races and religions, so that makes for interesting POVs.

message 26: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments I have read about 1/2 of chapter 3. It is becoming interesting.

message 27: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis End of chap 13

(view spoiler)

message 28: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis The chapters are long in this book and I am finding it a slow read (I am reading a lot of pages, but it just feels slow). How about you guys?

message 29: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments Vicki, I agree.

I am just finishing chapter 5. I have been too busy to read as much as I would like.

message 30: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments Finished ch 6 Who are these women?!? (view spoiler)

message 31: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments I"m reading several book I like, but I'm always excited to come back to this one. Hoping to get a few more chapters read today

message 32: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 2434 comments I just finished Chapter 11, and like Vicki, I did not see “that” coming.

(view spoiler)

I do sometimes feel things are a little unbelievable. Go to the cops!

message 33: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 2434 comments Vicki, I like to take breaks at chapters, but can’t with this book. I have to find a point that feels logical to stop, like a change between remembering and going back to the present.

message 34: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 2434 comments I've finished the book. Thanks to all you PIFM people for letting me (a former PIFM person) participate!

message 35: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments Brenda, what did you think? I didn't get the reading done that I'd hoped, but I have several free days ahead now!

message 36: by Vicki Willis (last edited Nov 12, 2019 08:44PM) (new)

Vicki Willis I finished as well. That was (view spoiler)
I will post my review after more people finish. I can't wait to hear what you all think!

Glad you could read with us Brenda. Why are you a "former"? Hopefully you can join us again for another read sometime.

message 37: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments Hi Brenda. It would be nice if you return to PIFM. It has been awhile.

I have now completed 8 chapters. I am on deadline at the moment so must steal time to read.

message 38: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 2434 comments My review is up; I don't think I've spoiled anything with it.

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Vicki, I got behind in reading what people voted for me. Maybe I wasn't so good at picking books for my list, and when the month ended, there were other books calling my name.

Patricia, I'll think about it!

message 39: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 2434 comments BTW, folks, when I said I'd never been scuba diving early in this thread, I had no idea scuba diving was part of this book. Complete coincidence!!!

Perri | -43 comments Brenda wrote: "BTW, folks, when I said I'd never been scuba diving early in this thread, I had no idea scuba diving was part of this book. Complete coincidence!!!"

That was a great one with the scuba! As for the books, no one is checking to see if you read them or not, and I'll say there have been times that I have not!

message 43: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments I am getting there. I am on chapter 15.

message 44: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments I finally finished and awarded 4 stars. Loved the twists and turns. I thought it was well written and I felt her surprises were rational as well as added some stress to the mystery. I really enjoyed it.

message 45: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 5526 comments Vicki Willis I wouldn’t want to participate in a riot

message 46: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis Me neither Christine!

message 47: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments Are you still discussing my chicken wing riot?
