I just picked up Meal at a conference, so I'll be reading that! There's another one I had in mind for this challenge, Spinning, that I'll have to see if I can find.
I changed my mind! I read The Hollywood Book Club, which is pictures of Old Hollywood celebs reading or adjacent to books, and Well-Read Women: Portraits of Fiction's Most Beloved Heroines, which is watercolor images of and quotations from female protagonists. I flipped through The Art of Tangled because it’s the prettiest 3D Disney movie, but only glanced at the words. So much effort.I also found Moby-Dick in Pictures: One Drawing for Every Page in my library’s ebook collection, and I might get around to it once I’ve recovered from all this hard work.
I'll be reading My Friend DahmerI wish I didn't have such a backlog of library books checked out! Sometimes I use these monthly themes to clear out chunks of my to-read list and there are so many graphic novels I've wanted to read but haven't gotten around to!
I just picked This Book is Gray from Amazon first reads. It's a children's book about a gray crayon wanting to write a story.(aaaaand I already read it. I love this month!)
I'll be reading Naoki Urasawa's Monster, Volume 5 I loved the anime and I'm slowly going through the manga.
Meg Cabot just released her first graphic novel, Black Canary Ignite so I'll be reading that and possibly some other graphic novels. I took a break the last few months because work kicked my butt but now I'm back!
I read the graphic novel Snow Blind which was a great noir story with a fantastic atmosphere. This could definitely be a movie!
I read Eartha which was interesting and a little weird. At one point the city people are getting their news (view spoiler) from biscuits/cookies because if you're getting sad news, better to eat to have something to eat after.
I selected a picture book called When Sadness Is at Your Door. It's a very sweet, short book. I liked it.
took me a while to find something to read for November. I found O Gato e as Orquídeas by Kwong Kuen Shan while browsing the catalog of a Brazilian publisher that mainly puts out translations of Japanese books (this wasn't a Japanese book, the author is from Hong Kong and I think this book might have been written in English originally - she lives in Wales).
Anyway it's gorgeous. It's a series of watercolors of cats and flowers (mainly orchids) with little Chinese proverbs or quotes. Adorable. There are 2 more books in this series and I'm tempted to get them.
