"Just finished the first story - the title story - and I loved it. Weird, abstract, dreamy nonsense, talking animals, weird plants. It reminded me a lot of Alice in Wonderland and there was a dinner party scene that reminded me of Spirited Away so now I need to watch both." May 10, 2021 08:30PM

Climbing was a magnificent activity, I firmly believed, not in spite of the inherent perils, but precisely because of them.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
“Some people ask: “Why the word feminist? Why not just say you are a believer in human rights, or something like that?” Because that would be dishonest. Feminism is, of course, part of human rights in general—but to choose to use the vague expression human rights is to deny the specific and particular problem of gender. It would be a way of pretending that it was not women who have, for centuries, been excluded. It would be a way of denying that the problem of gender targets women.”
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, We Should All Be Feminists

“A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms.”

Angela Y. Davis
“In a racist society it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be anti-racist.”
Angela Y. Davis

“Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”
Jamie Anderson

Terry Pratchett
“How did you get here, little girl?’ she said, in a voice that suggested gingerbread cottages and the slamming of big stove doors.”
Terry Pratchett, Equal Rites
