Most of my GR friends rated it four or five stars, so I'm looking forward to this one.

I just started today. It's slow going (not in a bad way), so I'm pleased we're doing it over 4 weeks.
I started Monday! I've haven't read such an angry voice in awhile. I also haven't read anything quite so musical either. I'm reminded of The Recognitions with the family dynamics. I like it!
Yeah the dad is....something.ETA: from a review in the Washington Post, this struck me as being right on the nose:

SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION:If you're interested in an inexcusably blathery and spoiler-rich review that's nearly as long as the book, my review can be easily accessed by clicking on the link below:

Do yourself a favor and read Gregsamsa's instead. Excellent review Greg. I will have to try that dip of despair.
Thanks for linking your review, James, as I missed it the first time around. I'm always interested in learning how people came across authors. Gass through Eggars? Whodathunk?A cool web time waster along those lines is here:

You enter an author's name and it spatially arranges other names based on some kinda algorithm deal which is way better than Goodreads'.
Whatever version does happen to exist in the world is probably due for a copyedit, eh? And a .pdf version that's actually viewable.
Unfortunately Project Gutenberg does not have it, nor that other guy you mentioned in your ring review.
